Is dengvaxia totally safe if you've had dengue before? I think it's no good if you haven't yet right? It's dangerous?
It is a live attenuated vaccine
      it’s weakened but not killed
Not suitable for those with weaker immune system, pregnant women

Those without prior infection can’t take the vaccine as it may increase the risk of severe infection if he gets infected later

Hi, may I check for those with higher chinese going to SAP school, does e.g. 6P come before 6 (no higher chinese) or does only 6D and 6M have advantage? Thank you!
Yes there will be priority for pass in HCL as well
And the HCL advantage will apply before other tie breakers like citizenship and order of choice comes in

      All the best!

Dd was in gate bio but it was pre-covid times when she first joined it, so I am not sure what could have changed.

The school will provide the updated information on what the program entails and commitment (if any) in the briefings.
Btw, my girl signed up for the “sample lesson” back then.
If your girl is interested after the briefings and sample lesson, just go for the selection test. The school will do the necessary to assess the student.
Don’t know how much of it is still valid as of now but commitments during dd’s time:- some self-study is required, electives in the form of workshops/seminars/learning journeys were conducted in the thursday afternoons, have to do research and participate in smtp/gate fair, you are not allowed to withdraw from the program nor are the students allowed to drop from 4H2 to 3H2.
The students were free to choose electives that were available to all the students in the smtp/gate program, unless it was explicitly stated otherwise that certain pre-requisite was required for these electives.
So you can be in gate biology class and choose an elective workshop on chemistry of coffee or cosmetics, workshop on unmanned technologies (drones), visit and tour the Institute of High Performance Computing, something like that.
She doesn’t regret joining the program. All the best!

Hi Tamago123, I think HCI, as well as the other JCs which u have checked on are just following what is stated as per the subject information for H2 Physics on SEAB’s website.

It states that “ The syllabus has been designed to build on and extend the content coverage at O-Level. Candidates will be assumed to have knowledge and understanding of Physics at O-Level, either as a single subject or as part of a balanced science course.“
I suppose “part of balanced science course” would mean combined science with physics.
So, it’s not a must to have taken pure physics at O levels to take H2 Physics, but u need to have taken at least combined physics with another science as required by the respective JCs in that case. (Sorry, I hope I got your question correctly.)

yikes, no wonder my son is not looking forward to JC at all! He's so attached to the high school.....
      😄 I remember u mentioning this previously.
He must have enjoyed his times in HCI (high school) very much!
It’s still the same school with HCI boys forming one third of the cohort, just that there are some girls now and more mugging.
All the best to him, 加油!

      @doodbug

I ever asked dd’s form teacher (also her biology teacher) during a sec 4 PTM.
Was told no common paper with HCI for biology in the sec 4 EOY but they do look at each other’s exam papers.

Having said that, I also don't want to paint a false rosy picture that it is all rainbows there. Academically, it is not a walk in the park. Standards are high but since you are in this thread, I assume your daughter has been selected via DSA or are confident that the PSLE results will get her there. In which case, as long as she puts in consistent work and does her homework she should be able to cope.
      Agree.
It is not a walk in the park but it’s probably something that the girls can achieve if they put in consistent efforts and have good attitudes.
I don’t think any IP school is easy, even if the school lowers the bar internally, there may be consequences when the students take their A level national exams eventually if they have not been keeping up academically. (They skip the O levels).
Other than academics, students would also be busy with stuff like student initiated activities and CCA.
They would step down from these somewhere in Sec 4, allowing them more time to focus on the academics. (For my girl, her worst results were in sec 3, sec 4 was ok)

Already mapped out righ? We going to use our body armored with vaccination to fight virus war.
:hugs: Don’t worry too much, it should be ok for most people who are not vulnerable.
We can help ourselves by staying active, eating well and having adequate rest.
I am concerned for my seniors though, they will have it harder with their medical conditions. Just pray it will turn out fine.

China is zero covid strategy, ours is “endemic.”

Don’t think we will have VTL with them anytime soon.
