    • RE: Extra time for exams

      Dear All

I saw posting and thought to request some help from you.

My daughter was diagnosed with Autism low spectrum at p6 and was granted AA by primary school school psychologist. However, the MOE don’t support for secondary and we have to get our own testing done for AA for N and O level. I don’t know what type of test needs to be done for AA extra time or which certified educational psychologist to see. Would you be able to advise pls? I asked the school counselor and she also don’t know. tests are very expensive (a few k) and i don’t want to do any unnecessary ones if MOE don’t need or worse if i didn’t do one that they need. Appreciate your advice.

      Thank you so much.

    • RE: Thermomix - reviews

I had the Thermomix for a week now and I can’t rave about how much i love it. Like you, i have the kitchen aid (SGD 900?), blender, hurom juicer (about SGD 800++) , grinder, chopper, slow cooker, pressure cooker etc. Yes, it is hefty but when i work it out over the years and how often i use it, it is not that expensive. I put it on installment for 24 months and it comes up to SGD 98 so very affordable. It is also more efficient then my kitchen aid. I happily threw out the other machine. Did i tell you that the TM5 can do Sous vide too?

I now make fresh food and preservative food. Very happy.

      Hi

My understanding is there is no cheaper prices. it is fixed since only one company is selling this and they do not have distributors. With warranty and direct buying, it is SGD 2320.

    • RE: Thermomix - reviews

I just bought my ThermomixTM5 over the good friday weekend and i have fell in love with it.

It is almost dummy proof with step by step instructions and pre-programmed recipes. One touch setting to cook. Thsi machine not only blends, chops, saute, mixes, kneads bread.

I made the following over 3 days -
kaya - 45 mins - dump all into machine, press button and walk away. it will beep when done. 🙂 I used to have to stand over the stove for 2 hrs to stir this. machine does it all for me.

Thai Fish cake - Made with fresh fish and herbs. Steam in the TM5 then bake in oven so healthier eating with no oil.

Honey Chicken wings - Marinate chicken using recipe and then cook all in the TM5. walk away and come back after 15 mins with yummy chicken wings.

I also made chicken stock granules using the machine - i am adverse to eating processed food as much as i can so this is great. 100% chicken meat, fresh herbs. Chopped, Blended and cooked in TM5. Baked in oven to make dried powder instead of paste so it can hold for longer. Great for stir-fry and soups.

Brioche - Followed recipe and it kneads the dough. Pour into tin and bake in oven. Buttery and nice. Hubby loves it.

What my son cooked on the machine and he's 10 yrs old -
Ginko barley Fu Chouk dessert Chinese style - he put all the ingredients following recipe chip and we had dessert 🙂

Son and hubby made chocolate ice cream using the machine too.

Love what it does so far and recipes seems tasty enough. What i love about it is the convenience, the powerful motor as well as the fact that even my kids can cook. It is great fro us to cook with the kids and i don't worry about them hurting themselves or not turning on the stove properly. I have videos of them cooking and if you are keen, let me know 🙂 My opinion is that it saves me time. i can cook and walk away knowing that if i follow instructions properly, it will be safe and food wont burn.My time is more costly then the machine and my kids love that they now can \"play\" in the kitchen.

    • RE: GEP 2015 - Screening & Selection

I am actually relieved we didn't get GEP cause changing of school means DS has to get on bus by 5.30am. Imagine how early he would have to be up daily. This is already the nearest GEP school to our home. I did tell him it was an experience and I was proud of him for what he is. Only ask for my kids to be the best they can be, not what I want them to be.

Another factor would be i don't have to support so much work unlike GEP (yes, i am lazy but having twins is not funny). FTWM and checking homework daily plus his CCA and external private coaching sessions. Quite happy where he is right now. Of course people say i sour grapes but really, i love my son for who he is 🙂

Cheers to all who made it and even to all those who didn't get in. They are till the top 10 % so let's celebrate regardless.

    • RE: GEP 2015 - Screening & Selection

I was told that some school received the letters later than others - Kinda like courier to all the schools. My son's school received infor yesterday later afternoon so kids all had gone home. I knew cause they called me personally to inform me of the results. Hope this helps. Mots parents will get the answer by Monday when school reopens.

DS didn't get in and we were secretly relieved 😛 No need to change school.
