In my opinion, Learning Lab is an enrichment centre, and not a tuition centre. That is the difference.
Yup, I took Jap for my A Levels. The workload is really hard though, the whole level only has about 30+ students I think. It's really hard to get A because there's half-Japanese/Japanese students who never show up for class but will get full marks.

And any idea if it is difficult to get distinction for French Lang A level. Thanks so much.
Very difficult. Less people get A for French than for Japanese.
Have a really tough decision to make next year- to drop MEP or French or continue taking the two subjects that I like and have done quite well. Any good advice pls. Thanks and Happy New Year 2012..... Cheers.........

I'm not sure how many people actually \"fail\" the subject though. Basically for prelims, we get bad grades like E but for A's most people get Bs. Only 1 guy in my class got A (he's not Japanese but he's crazy about Jap).

At least on the bright side you won't do terribly for third lang.
I think you can take both music and third lang as long as you choose only one scholarship (the MEP or LEP)
I was told that for A level, we are only allow to take one contrasting subject like music or 3rd lang or Econ. Confusing?? Thanks and Happy New Year 2012 to you and everybody out there 🙂

May I know is it true that student can only take either music or 3rd Lang for A level. And any idea if it is difficult to get distinction for French Lang A level. Thanks so much.

      Hello,

I went on with with a Bachelor in Fine Arts and Minor in Music. I did not do a Bachelor in Music as those offered locally are mainly for Performance based and 1) I'm not that much of a performance based musician, 2) cannot afford overseas music programs (e.g. Music Technology etc.).

However, through my 4 years, I managed to continue studying music the way i preferred - audio engineering, sound design, audio post-production, arrangement etc. At the same time continue furthering my minor in Music and brush up on history knowledge etc.

Hope that helps? Not sure what you would like to know more about actually.
Tks shindii, just what to find out more about music studies and career for MEP student.

      Hello,

I'm currently a Music Teacher and I went through the Music at 'O' levels and A level MEP and as of the school requirements, you would not require to take Music or MEP at O Levels to do so in JC. They do have a grade 8 requirement but usually they would go through some talks with the students that would like to opt for elective programmes to make sure that they are prepared for it.

As the curriculum is more than just practical, it would be great if some knowledge in music history etc. can be obtained prior to entry.

      Hope this helps. 🙂
Hi Shindii, did you further your muisc studies after A level Music MEP, if yes, can you share with us pls. Thanks.
