I called the SCGS GO and confirmed COP for IP & OP are the same 252.

My girl is on the dot 252 and was allocated to OP, which I believe it could be the decimals that split her out of the IP track. I respect the cutoff but I can't figure the logic of IP & OP having the same COP. Anyone has any thoughts to share on this...
I guess this results are based on the applications which means SCGS IP is not as popular as other IP schools
Thank you Phtthp, at least you shed a light for my child. Means I have to apply a request for a transfer to IP (if her result is good) after she got her Sec 2 year end result right? Then is subjected to school assessment .

I think if your daughter wants to be in IP, the most realistic option would be to seek a transfer to IP school that she meets the COP.

While in theory, she can lateral transfer from OP to IP if her result is good, the probability of it happening is very low. You are likely looking at less than 10 students per cohort ~ 1 in 25?

Hi jesping,

What floppy raised , are valid points to consider.

At 255 Tscore,
if your daughter is very keen to start IP (2020 Sec 1), she can proceed to appeal to

- Dunman High (255 COP),

- National Junior College ( 254 COP),

- Cedar Girls (253 COP),

- SCGS IP (202 COP), note that school fees is $300+ per month,

- Temasek JC (250 COP)

And then see, which of the above IP schools still have vacancies now, allow her Appeal to be successful.
On your side, may evaluate distance travelling to and fro everyday, from home to IP school.

If your girl decide to remain in St Nick (OP), during the next 2 years, whether in IP or OP, there are Talent development programme available inside our school, to nurture & groom their talent further. When 2020 Term 1 start, VP (Academic ) will brief all Sec 1 (girls and parent), what these Talent development programme are all about. In upper Sec 3 onwards, St Nick do provide Career counselling sessions.

Come to end of Sec 2 (OP), for those who do well, Form Tr will ask short listed candidates, if they want to Transfer over to Sec 3 IP track.

If interested to switch over, Principal will interview them, and they will take off IP from Sec 3, to join Eunoia JC in Year 5.

On the other hand, there are also some pupils, who although approached by Tr to switch over to IP, given the opportunity, however declined. They prefer to continue take O level exam, after that decide where they want to go, next. Maybe they targeting some other JCs instead.

St Nick Teachers are caring.
At any one time if u have any concern, feel free to talk to VP, or talk to Teachers so that u don't feel alone, facing your problem. They are always willing to listen, to guide if u need help
I would say to be well prepared for O level and get into a good JC is better choice then joining IP school in S3

IP schools have their own sequence and pace on the teaching topics which is different from non IP school.

overall average of low 80s, can get 239-242 if that year is a slightly difficult exam....but i agree tat there's no way it will be 250

So.. trying to get an idea of what one needs to get 255 and above - an average of 90 across all 4?

4 near A* (like 90) should be range 250-256
wow~ then those who got 270 t-score, what average mark they scored? :scared:
