And from what I know, there’s no affiliation when it comes to IP. Entrance is purely by DSA and PSLE cut off scores.

My girl is now in Year 1 IP in MGS. In her class, exactly half the class (15 girls) are from MGS Pri.

There are only 2 IP classes in MGS, each class size is around 30 girls.

Applicant numbers are not dependable on intake numbers or class size. Any year, the number of applicants varies as it depends on demand.
From what I know, MGS will usually take in less than 30 girls through DSA for the IP course.

DD’s friends with PSLE scores of high 24x didn’t get Edusave scholarship and mostly those with 25x got it, that’s why I thought it’s base on top 10% of PSLE scores.

Thanks for the information. Now I know. Cos DD also got EESIS, that’s why I thought Edusave scholarship is also based on PSLE scores.

Edusave scholarship is definitely based on school results only., If your DD missed her entire prelims due to medical conditions, the school will still get a combined total for her in view of her previous CA and SA. If she did well enough, she will still qualify to be within the top 5-10% of the school cohort to get the Edusave scholarship.

The scholarship that is based on PSLE T-score is EESIS, which is for the top 3% of PSLE cohort for that year only.
But her SA was not that fantastic, around 85% or less (can't remember but definitely not more) and in her report book the final slip had VR for all her subjects. There's no combine scores.

I think the COP for Edusave Scholarship depends on the school.

Edusave scholarship is based on school results only, totally not related to t-score.[/quote]Actually I don't think that's correct. DD missed the entire prelims due to medical reason but she got the Edusave scholarship. So, I think it's based on PSLE scores.

Being selected into the GEP programme is an opportunity to expose kids with natural talents to higher order learning and experiential learning. GEP curriculum only ends in Term 1 of P6. My kid only started doing the PSLE papers nearing the end of Term 1. GEP curriculum is not equivalent to accelerated mainstream syllabus. Most GEP kids have natural talents in maths and science. However, not all are all-rounder. My kid for example is strong in maths and science and less so for languages. PSLE score is a relative scoring system. This year's PSLE maths and science papers seem to be simpler than last year's (according to the feedback of most on the kiasu forum). If I may be blunt, the easier maths and science papers put GEP kids at a disadvantage (most if not all GEP kids are strong in maths and science and some are equally strong in languages) This explains why the general T-score is lower this year as the standard deviation is smaller. In a nutshell, please do not think GEP kids are super kids and will definitely fare better than mainstream students for PSLE.

I agree! GEP kids are NOT superkids and GEP is NOT accelerated mainstream. A lot of what they learn in GEP is redundant in PSLE. We all know that PSLE is a rigorous exam that requires students to practice, practice, practice in order to be top 10%. Saying that GEP kids should naturally do better than mainstream for PSLE is akin to expect IB students to score in A level! It's non comparable cos both have different syllabus and exam formats.
