RE: L1R5 and Bonus Points For JC Admission
zeemimi:
Thx so much for the info zeemimi
If she obtains at least c6 for hmt, she is eligible for the 2 bonus. What moe meant was you can't use hmt for L1 together with mt for r5 in L1r5 computation.lotus123:
Hi
I would like to know if my DD uses her MT grade for the R5 component of L1R5 computation, is she still eligible for the 2 bonus pts for her HMT? Hope someone can help me here. I have checked MOE and school websites but all they say is one cannot use both MT and HMT grades in the computation which I understand but it still doesn't answer my question. Thanks -

Yes, my DD is doing double sc and double humanities.lotus123:
Re doing 1 humanities, that doesn't sound that bad. Yes of course must do v well as it has to be included in the L1R5. But can spend more time in 1 humanities instead of 2. I wonder if my daughter's school will allow this. Do u need to speak to the principal and get permission?
My ds selected Triple Science for his Sec 2 streaming selection.
Is your DD taking Double Science/Double Humanities?
I heard fm DS that there are some who cannot cope, will just focus on 1 subject but still go ahead to sit for both exams. Usually they don't drop the subject. -

Hi zbearlotus123:
chl72, we are in the same boat I guess. Sending my DD for hist and soc studies skills tuition wef this sat. Karen Goh, founder of Learnmojo is conducting the lesson. One week in person and one week e-learning. Got her contact from KSP forum. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully, my DD learns some skills which will be helpful in answering SBQ and SEQ.
Same for my ds too. He is taking only 1 Humanities subject n die die must do well as it will affect his L1R5. So we are taking a big risk.

:hi5: Lotus123, your DD n my DS can be friends. Exactly the same problem lah... Just that his 'stronger' subjects are the 2 sciences. Other subjects, especially humanities, totally give up... :slapshead:lotus123:
Hi chl72
Thx for sharing. I feel my DD is overwhelmed by the workload. She keeps revising and practicing E/maths and A/maths only and ignores the rest of the subjects, esp., her humanities. She does quite well for both maths. She knows if she puts in more effort, she can do well for the other subjects too.

RE: 2015 O Levels (Sec 4)
Hi Happy New Year! My DD is sitting for O levels this year. Very difficult to motivate her. Gets distracted very easily. I really hope she realises soon that this is a very important year. Sigh…
