Yeah! I believe MOE doesn’t want to open a can of worms nor override individual school’s decision.
I wonder whether this is intended to prevent parents from gaming the system.
At the point of the DSA application, parents are allowed to select a preference, right? If we picked the O-levels track, we know that the admission standard (COP) is likely lower than IP/IB so there's a better chance of getting a DSA CO that way. If parents were not bothered either way, then I think the school has the discretion to slot the student into an appropriate program depending on his/her grades/performance. Regardless, the decision was left with the parents so we have to live with it, one way or another.
In short, I think once you are allocated that specific track, it's hard to argue for a swap (whether upwards to IP/IB or downwards to O). If we could do that, the schools might end up being swamped with these types of requests.
Not that parents have no options to begin with. -

Well,I guess parent has to discuss with child the options during application; tick both tracks or just IP track. If choose the former, then got to accept if given 'O' track.
Ah ! This is something, which i don't quite understand.
In principle, no doubt, the school offered the child CO, for O-level track in the end, because during the very thorough DSA (tests + interview) conducted, the school management overall feel that the child is better off, studying O-level instead of IB.
However, if the child's actual PSLE results released proved that she does qualify for IB or A-level IP track after all, why must the child be denied or deprived the chance of starting IB or IP from Sec 1, for next 2 years ? Why must wait until end of Sec 2, then come and consider let her be transfered, into IP track ?
The fact that, her actual PSLE results qualify her for IP, means what?
Means that the DSA school management has made a mistake, in offering her a CO for the O-level track, instead of offering her a CO for the IB track ?
The DSA school has under-estimated this child's academic ability, in PSLE performance ?
Come on, this is not fair !
If this kid had never accepted the DSA O level track CO, based on PSLE results, she already qualify for IP (be it IB or A-level), and would have entered straight into IB ! So, why waste 2 precious years of her Lower Secondary years life, doing O level curriculum ?
I mean,
if the kid's PSLE results don't qualify for IP, then case closed, we all have nothing to say anymore. Don't qualify means, don't qualify, right ? There is nothing to argue over.
But, in contrast,
if the kid's actual Psle results released does qualify her for IP, why waste time, doing O level for Sec (1 and 2) ? -

There will be another admission exercise into Y3. It is open to all Y2 students in 2024 (referring to the current year PSLE students) with the following criteria:
No, they will follow the offer in S1. Not sure by S2 if result is good, they will offer IB to her.
Outstanding academic performance in Y1 and 2 school examinations; and Excellent achievement in academic and co-curricular activities. Shortlisted applicants must sit for Admission Tests administered by the school you are applying to. Some schools include an interview as well. -

Not to worry. If missed out this round, there’s always another chance. Student can apply and go for a written test towards end of Y2 or beginning of Y3 (can’t remb exact timeline) Results will be released somewhere mid of Y3. If student passes, a letter of offer will be emailed to you. Fees paid for the 1st half year will be reimbursed back to student’s edusave account.
Thanks. Did you happen to hear of any children that didn't get ESIS despite getting AL5? Just wondering how hard it is to get this. -

According to SCGS timeline, for shortlisted applicants after audition and trials will be invited for interviews onsite from 18 Jul to 26 Aug. That is too say, the interview has completed. So, all applicants who went for the interviews are now anxiously waiting for release of results.
Hi Parents,
Did anyone hear from SCGS for Robotics after the audition? Wonder if any interviews after the auditions held in mid July.
Thanks.
