      lee_yl:
Just curious, during DSA interview, if the student was asked which other schools did she apply for, which of the following response would interviewers prefer:

      1) I also applied to 3-4 other IP schools

      2) 2 schools. The other school I applied to is RGS (or NYGH) that’s all.

      3) No, only one, I only want to come to your school.
Dd was asked the above questions by both schools she DSAed for. She answered truthfully that she had applied for DSA to School A and School B and that School B was her first choice. Reason was simply her brother was in the brother school of School B.

Incidentally, both schools also suggested that she consider MEP but she rejected the suggestion and gave her reasons why she chose not to.

      Both schools offered her COs.

I don’t think the interviewers are looking for the ‘correct answers’, but rather, they might be more interested in how the students present themselves and their views during the interview. What is not so wise, perhaps, is to give responses like ‘I DSA for the school because my parents want me to...’.

PS: A boy once told the interviewers that he wanted to join the school because his father was from an alumni and he hoped to follow in his father’s footsteps. He got the CO.

lee_yl, ds was asked for his views on tuition during his interview 😉

      Hi lee_yl,

As far as I know, some in the first group received rejection emails before HDP. Those who received neither rejection email nor notice for HDP were offered COs in August, no WLs.

For those who sat for HDP (in the first group), some were given COs and WLs while others were rejected.

Have things changed this year? i.e Heard of any rejection emails so far?

Last year, RGS placed the students (DSA via Academics) into 2 groups. One group attended the interview and followed by HDP while the second group sat for the HDP before the interview. So, not to worry much if you haven’t heard from the school online.

For the first group, there were 3 possible outcomes after the interview:
      1) Email to attend the HDP (Final outcome was released in late August)
      2) Rejection email
      3) No further notification. Don’t panic if your child receive no further updates until August. (For last year, this group of students received CO without having to sit for HDP. So, keep your fingers crossed. )

      All the best!

      Harrychew:

Around end Oct after the exams, the student is suppose to submit a DSA choice form in which there will be up to 3 choices.
If student puts in CO in choice 1, definitely will be assigned to choice 1 school.
If student put the WL in choice 1, and CO in choice 2, how will MOE process? I think this means the CO is considered as rejected.
      A student with 1 WL and 1 CO -
If WL in choice 1 is not converted, the student will automatically be posted to the CO school in choice 2.
As long as a CO is submitted, regardless of the choice ranking, the student will be assured of a place in that school.

A student with 2 or 3 COs, student will be posted to the CO school in choice 1.

Intake via DSA for some IP schools last year, I heard, was only 35% instead of 50% in the earlier years.

One IP school teacher shared that results would, perhaps, get one an interview/selection tests. After which results would no longer matter. The rest of it would depend on the interview and other achievements/activities the student was engaged in.

Of the four IP/IB schools that had offered my kids COs, three indicated in their letters of offer that they must qualify for the Express Course/Stream with PSLE results. Only one school specifically stated "must be still eligible to attend the Express Course offered in our school based on your PSLE results". Perhaps, that’s why the confusion between minimum T-score for Express Stream and COP for the school.

      Newinthisforum:
Regarding macbook air, the prrice of newstead is 1530 for 128G , but markrt price in the store is only 1328. Anyone can tell what difference between this two?

Price quoted by Newstead includes wired mouse, AppleCare Protection Plan ($348) and laptop backpack. $1328 most likely excludes AppleCare Protection Plan.

how many percent of your online buys are either things you donch really need, or things that turned out way below your expectation?

I reckon about at least 30% of my purchases!! 😢
Stuffed toys can be considered as things don't really need? Bought quite a number of stuffed toys for my dd, including an Eevee, over the December holidays.
