I see the 16 years old around me giving their friends clothings or handbags as presents. For an adult to a 16 year old, I may consider giving a set of skin care products as this is the age that they are starting to want to look pretty and nice (vain actually ).

I have a friend who is a housewife and would like to have more "income" for herself. She is contemplating between fix deposit and investment that are safe as she is talking about only a 5k or 7k (I can’t remember the exact amount).


She said the interest for fix deposit is very little base on her amount. Around $100± per year (or two?). If she goes for investment, she is not sure which or what to go for as she is afraid of the risk involve and only wants some decent interest.

I can understand her situation as I used to be a housewife before too but I have no idea and knowledge in this area, thus couldn’t provide any good advice for her.

Can someone give some good advice and suggestion please? If fix deposit, which bank yield a higher interest and if investment, which type and where can she goes to.

We are planning to hire a full time maid to take care of our children (2-1/2 years old and 8 years old). As this is the first time we are hiring a maid, appreciate if someone can recommend good agencies to us.

As we are staying in the west area, is it better for us to contact maid agencies near our home?
Have seen some positive reviews of maid agencies that were located in the East, but guess much time will be spent on traveling to these maid agencies.

In addition, we are thinking of installing webcams / CCTV (probably with the ability to monitor from our phones) in our living rooms and bedrooms. Please advise on estimated cost and provide some recommendations if possible.

Hi all, my former myanmese maid by name MYO PaPa aged 24/25yo who asked to return to her home country after 13mo mid-dec 2015. Bought her an air ticket for the next day and did a quick check of her personal belongings before she left, she took a pair of diamond earrings, a gold chain, and money too. She did not admit initially she stole the diamond jewellery until I brought her to the jeweller for verification in front of her. Was not at all apologetic and no sense of remorse. The gold chain was returned to us after we came back from the jeweller. Went to police with the evidence but did not lodge the report as the process of investigation according to the police takes time (the police saw the evidence and asked me whether they need to go down with me back home should she turn uncontrollable). After considering that I have already cancelled the work permit after buying the air ticket, and did not want see more of her, I sent her straight to the airport. At the airport, she still maintained her straight face with no remorse before check in and during check in.


There's no way I can blacklist her at MOM except for being a character referee.

On a separate note, she is also not 24/25yo as claimed. She is only 18yo as she told us when she came to work in our household. She only did general housecleaning, did not look after 2yo and no marketing as claimed in her latest bio data.

But that puts us the employers in a bad spot because \"statistics\" tell that many helpers are being \"abused\" when actually I believe more employers or their family members such as the children and elderly are being abused or things being stolen etc. Statistics doesn't show the high rate of bad act on the helpers side because we are kind enough not to report them but just let them return home. Many of the helpers know that we are soft hearted, thus they are not afraid of Singaporean employers.
