concernmum_ps, I’m sorry to hear that. As others had said, you need to move on and encourage your DS to work hard in the sec school assigned. The COP is not easy to predict and you have already done your best.

my friends DS was DSA by HCL, he got PSLE score of 263+2, is appealing for RI...don't know the successful chances high or not?

Kindly take note that +2 is not applicable to RI.

Well, that's true. šŸ˜• My mother said it's alright if I want to transfer there...

      Deseived,
NJC is a good choice and I'm sure you will enjoy yourself there. Your T-score is very good, and you have worked hard for it. I know your parents may have different expectations due to your brother's results, but you should not be comparing yourself with your brother as you have your own uniqueness. There are lots of kids out there who would luv to have your good results! All the Best to you in your appeal to NJC - you have a high chance of getting it.

I agree. NJC is one of the good choice too if your appeal is successful. As a parent, I would recommend that as your brother is currently at HCI. It makes great sense in term of morning transportation - alight at the same bus stop but one has to cross over. Do not be discouraged.

      Thanks wonderm.

Yes, my typo error. It should be H1. My DD mentioned that inadequate GP assignments are given. I guess it is not easy for teacher to mark such lengthy papers frequently. Hence, she thought an additional external training provided by enrichment centers would be great.

Hence, I still wonder is there any suggestion from our Kiasu parents.

My DD will be a JC1 student in 2011. I am interested to strengthen her ability on the H2 subject - General Paper. I wonder is there any excellent enrichment/tuition center that has solid track record and performance oriented.

You should put RI as first choice. There's no harm. If he doesn't get RI he'll be considered for his 2nd/3rd choice etc. You can also consider ACSI.

hi, tks for the input. ACSI is too far. btw, will it jeopardize his chance if a school is placed as 2nd/3rd choice? the admittance to school is based on merit (score) or order of choices? let's say HCI cop is 257, will a boy with 257 and put HCI as 1st choice has priority over someone with 259 but put HCI as 2nd choice?

The computer will allocate based on MERIT first. So the student with 259 will be allocated his choice of school before the student who scores 258, 257 etc.

So anyone who's ranked above your son will get to exercise his choice first, regardless of whether it's his 1st choice, 2nd choice etc. Similarly, your son will get to exercise his choice before those ranked below him. So if he doesn't get his first choice of RI, he will get his 2nd choice etc before the computer moves down to the person ranked after him.
jtoh is right. MOE system stores the aggregate score with multiple decimal points for ranking purpose. Hence, at the end of the day, it is important to discuss with your DS to allow him to rank his choices and then you moderate to ensure it is indeed a good combination. He must be comfortable with his choice as this is going to be another 6 years journey. Hope you get what I mean. Last year, my DS wants HCI and I want him to get into RI for convenience sake. At the end, I stepped back. Both RI and HCI are great schools. Anyway, congratulations for the good achievement!
My daughter got 260+3, seems can try NJC or DHS, which one is better? šŸ˜„

First of all, congratulations to your daughter for the achievement.

Just curious, why NYGH is not one of the choices? After all, NJC and NYGH are just next to each other. I don't think the +3 is applicable to NJC.

Anyway, do research thoroughly before making the decision. Cheers!

Thank you! Would put NYGH as 1st choice but bit risky - can only try if lucky enough, reckon her score is more close to the COP of NJC/DHS. DHS campus is brand new, NJC campus is too old. DHS offer High Chinese where NJC don't. However some people say Junior colleague of NJC is better than DHS. Hard to decide
Glad that you are making an informed and deliberate decision as a parent. Don't rush. Take your time and consult your kid. Tomorrow, don't be surprised you make minor changes to the list you made today.

Do not miss the Open House of various IP schools. :celebrate:

The famous Qifa Primary's top scorer for this year is 270. There are 19 students with 250 and above. My child got a 258!

      Well done! Congratulations!

 Your next challenge is to select the choices and rank them carefully like playing a chess game. Another fun begin.

      Want to go RI:

Is 258 enough to get me into RI saying that COP drops by a few points?

You can try, but be prepared to be rejected.

If you are very keen to select RI as your first choice, you might also want to consider submitting an appeal to RI in advance so that when you are not selected (being lost marginally) but given the second choice, you could appeal to RI as you have already expressed your \"sincerity\" in this borderline case. Nevertheless, this is not a guarantee. Do visit the choice of school in your heart and talk to them to seek their advice.
