      Q2. Mr Tan is 42 years old and his son is 8 years old now. In how many years time will Mr Tan be twice as old as his son?

      The age difference will remain the same.

      Age difference = 42 - 8 = 34

      When Mr Tan is twice as old as his son, and since the age difference is 34, Mr Tan will be 2 x 34 = 68
      68 - 42 = 26 --> Mr Tan will be twice his son's age in 26 years' time.

      cheers.

      Can anyone advise the steps if question is changed to :

      Mr Tan is 42 years old and his son is 8 years old now. In how many years time will Mr Tan be three times as old as his son?

      KEY CONCEPT: The age difference does not change.

      Their age difference is 42 - 8 = 34 years.

      Mr Tan [---][---][---]
      Son `` [---]<--34-->

      2 units --> 34
      1 unit --> 34/2 = 17

      17 - 8 = 9
      Ans: In 9 year's time

      Hi,

      Got a question from 2007 Rosyth paper.
      Qn on State of matter -
      A water puddle will only evaporate at 100 degree C - True or False?
      False.
      Water evaporates all the time as long as it is exposed to air. It need not be at 100 degrees C to evaporate.

      Hope this helps!

      Mrs Wong

      Can someone help the following question, please? Thanks.

      Three sisters Lisa, Ming and Nora shared the cost of a present to their father. Lisa paid 1/4 of the total share of Ming and Nora. Ming paid 1/9 of the total share of Lisa and Nora. Nora paid $60 more than Ming. How much did the present cost?
      L : N : M : Total
      1: -- 4 --: 5
      -- 9--: 1 : 10

      The total amount is the same.
      Therefore we need to multiply the first ratio by 2 to make the total number of units the same.

      L : N : M : Total
      2: -- 8 --: 10
      -- 9--: 1 : 10
      2 : 7 : 1 : 10

      7 - 1 = 6 units
      6 u --> $60
      1 u --> $10
      10 u --> $100

      Hi, please help in following question:

      At a prize-giving ceremony, prize-winners could invite either one or both of their parents to attend. The ratio of the number of prize-winners to the number of parents who attended was 8:11 and 3/8 of the prize-winners bought only one parent. What fraction of the prize-winners did not have any parents attending the ceremony?
      Prize Winners = 8 units
      Parents = 11 units

      Out of prize winners (8 units), there are 3 groups:
      Brought 1 parent = 3/8 of 8 units = 3 units; 3 units x 1 parent = 3 units of parents
      Brought both parents } 8 units - 3 units
      Did not bring parents } = 5 units

      Now, looking at the parents:
      11 units - 3 units = 8 units
      8 units of parents belong to those who brought BOTH parents.

      Prize Winners (brought both parents & did not bring parents):
      Brought both parents: 8 units of parents divide by 2 parents per prize winner = 4 units of prize winners
      5 units - 4 units = 1 unit of prize winners did not bring parents

      1 out of 8 prize winners did not bring their parents. (Ans: 1/8)

      Hi! I hv one qn.

      Jason's grandfather has black eyes and his dad has brown eyes.
      Jason's has black eyes.

      Why does jason have blavk eyes although his parents have brown eyes?

      Inherit from grandfather of course

      Yes. The students should have been taught that such inherited traits can 'skip a generation'.

      If the coach’s advise to you is to step back, then is the coach correcting him? Assuming that the coach’s stand is that correcting of mistakes should be left to the coach.

      Usually, children write in broken English because they speak in broken English. Try working on the spoken English too.

      Sorry to crash in on the thread.

      Any idea when the girls will move back to the original campus?
      Seems like it's almost ready (from what I can see on the outside). 🙂

      Hi mummies, thinking of enrolling my children into Bethesda at AMK next year. The school is kinda messy and children are not engaged when I visited them. The levels were all mixed in one big room, separated by dividers only. Any reviews about the school ? Apparently they have high enrollment but high teacher student ratio too.

      We have a studentcare student who attends Bethesda AMK.
      He seems very happy at the school and feedback from parents seem good.

      Maybe you want to pay them another visit at a different timing?

      I'm considering sending my younger boy there too, if I'll be stationed at the centre full time in future. 🙂

      Aiyoh,

      Mine is super stubborn. Refuses to crawl from pt A to pt B or to us. He will stretch out his arms but absolutely will not budge from his seat :roll:, think maybe he doesn't like crawling cuz he walks too, ever since he was 7 mths BUT with us holding his hands. He can stand but again, with us holding his hands. That's why he hasn't started cruising around the cot yet.

      He is so different from DS1 in terms of personality!! The latter was so guai at his age. This one is super headstrong. Don't want means don't want. 😓

      But I love my 2 gems to bits :love: :love:

      My two girls are the same! The older one is v guai while the younger one is super cheeky and stubborn. Won't be surprised if the young one bullies older one.

      I have 2 monster sons. Please save me!
