membership fees are important to the AA coz the fees help to pay admin costs (for eg, postages and misc stationeries), organizing annual D&D, certain school activites and fund-raising. So the more they can collect the merrier, at least the AA will have more sinking fund for the association.
I have always thought that all the primary schools are under MOE except the independent ones. Why do this schools need to raise funds?? Why are the funds not coming from MOE?? Pls enlighten me.mymagicteddy:
I think after the new ruling announced on Sunday, some schools' AA will increase the membership fees as they anticipate more ex-students will join AA, best time to collect more $$$ and increase the fund.
Now those schools that don't have AA will definitely create an AA. Those with AA will up the fees like Nan Chiau. It seems like this tweak benefits the schools and homeowners and property agent the most. $$$$$ for them! Thought this tweak is to benefit those staying near the sch???

In future, parents would not be able to join alumni purely by paying the alumni fees. The school will be looking for more active contributions.anyone watch yesterday's ch 8 6:30pm news...
some alumni grps suggest to up the gate for those parents who intend to join the alumni affected by the new measure...
like doing voluntary services/to participate more in the alumni activities.
while on the other hand, the clan grp will assign clan members to their affiliated schools to help out and these clan members need to be active at the activities organized by the clan at their centres.
did i get it right? -

some schools below - don't have 2a(1) alumni.
P2A2 is there coz not all school have alumni association AFAIK.Nebbermind:

I do not think that the long term aim is to cap P2A1 but to combine P2A1 and P2A2 (P2A2 is likely to become redundant with this new rule). To qualify as an alumni, one should just join the alumni association. It's not expensive and if everyone feels so strongly about their alumni, they should be part of them.
So, can't combine.

RE: Opinions of the Primary School Registration System
Why is G not willing to release the actual figures of SC and PR children studying in the popular schools. It will be interesting to know.

I totally agree with u. The so-called popular schools are the playgrounds of the rich. And they have the cheek to say every school is a good school. Disgusted! :mad:only with $$$, can spin the world around.
the future direction we are heading ahead is clear ...
next time, those popular schools with < 40 seats left -
balloting to occur < 1 km - for 2a, 2b, 2c.
> 1 km no chance to even ballot, turned off from balloting.
In the years ahead to come - those old boys, old girls who used to stay > 2 km and cannot afford buy property < 1km from their popular alma mater, cannot return anymore. Because they don't even have a chance to ballot. They're forced to go elsewhere. In the end, what happen is that alumni change hands. That is, the alumni become those new ones who are rich enough, can afford to buy property, stay near popular schools.
Property developers are $ opportunists.
Realizing how anxious 2a to 2c parents are, they'll keep building new condo < 1km, around popular schools. To them, is a great $ spinning $$ opportunity. They'll seize every chance to find new plot of land < 1km, build more condos. The taller condo they build, the better. Then, they can sell more units; more people stay. End up - intense balloting occur, within 1 km.
The only way to control it -
is cannot use distance to base for balloting. But will those people in power who make decision - bother to listen ? -
RE: Opinions of the Primary School Registration System
Looking at the properties near those schools that fall below 40 vacancies or slightly more than 40 vacancies after 2a2. It is clear that gov is reserving for the rich SC or PR. Gov is indirectly stopping the not so rich SC to get into the popular school. Majority of old boys are SC. For what reason, u know i know. NO MONEY NO TALK!
