      Hi

      As the COP is lower this year, does it mean that it is higher chance to get into NYGH with minimum requirement score of 264?

      Regards.

      Hi!

      Please help!

      Alif collected 1400 stamps and 35% of them were Singapore stamps. Fong collected 600 stamps and 55% of them were Singapore stamps. After Alif had given some of his stamps to Fong and Fong had given some of his stamps to Alif, 1/5 of Alif’s stamps and 3/5 of Fong’s stamps were Singapore stamps. How many Singapore stamps did Fong get from Alift?

      Thank You.

    • RE: Q&A - PSLE Math

      o..in that case, I think the original question is likely about money instead of toys...I have changed the toys to $$ below....

      Mr Samad had some money. He spent 20% of the money on Monday. He spent $27 on Tuesday. On Wednesday he spent 10% of the remaining money. After that he found that the money he had left was $1 more than 1/2 the original amount he had. How much money did he have at first ?

      Original amount --> 10u
      Spent on Monday --> 2u, Left --> 8u
      Spent on Tuesday --> $27, Left --> 8u - $27
      Spent on Wednesday --> 0.8u - $2.70, Left --> 7.2u - 24.30

      So, 7.2u - $24.3 = 5u + $1
      1u --> 11.5
      Original amount --> 10 x $11.5 = $115

      cheers.[/quote]

      Thanks MathIzzzFun :thankyou:

      Hi

      Please help with these 2 questions:

      2. Mr Samad made some toys to sell. He sold 20% of the toys on Monday. He sold 27 toys on Tuesday. On Wednesday he sold 10% of the remaining toys. After that he found that the toys he had left was 1 more than 1/2 the number of toys he had made. How many toys did he made?

      Thank You.

      Hi

      Could you check the source of the question, while the answer is a whole number (115), it does not make sense because (1/2 of 115 + 1) is not a whole number.

      cheers.

      Hi MathIzzzFun

      The answer is 115 and it is from River Valley Primary, Preliminary 2010. Paper 2, question 18.

      Cheers

      Hi

      Please help with these 2 questions:

      1. Susan has some vanilla and chocolate sweets in her bag. If she adds 20 vanilla sweets into the bag, the percentage of vanilla sweets in the bag becomes 40%. If she adds 30 chocolate sweets, there will be 70% of chocolate sweets in the bag. How many vanilla and chocolate sweets does she have?

      Thank You.

      Hi

      Q1
      if 20 vanilla sweets added,
      Vanilla : Chocolate = 40: 60 --> 2u : 3u
      total Vanilla : Chocolate --> 2u - 20 : 3u

      If 30 chocolate added,
      Vanilla : Chocolate --> 2u-20 : 3u+30 = 3:7

      cross multiply/equalize,
      14u - 140 = 9u+30, 1u--> 34

      Vanilla --> 2x34 + 20 = 88
      Chocolate --> 3 x 34 = 102

      cheers.

      Thanks MathIzzzFun.

      The answer given is vanilla - 64 and chocolate - 126.
