Psle English composition (paper 1):

3 pictures given.

Suppose 1 picture showed a lady's bracelet， 2nd picture showed a card with the word, \"friendship\" written on card.


If a p6 student carelessly, absent-mindedly (under tense, exam condition timing) write the entire english essay based on a woman's necklace, instead of bracelet (because 1st picture showed a bracelet) : will this student be penalized heavily by psle exam marker, because did not stick to the picture, given ? Depends on the marker. Such essays will usually be flagged out by the marker and discussed with the other teachers and HOD. My DD also loosely interpreted a picture in the eng essay for her p5 SA2 last year. In the end, they let it go and didn’t penalise her heavily (I.e. didn’t fail her) but the teacher warned her not to do it again.

at end of P4, when choose P5 subject combination : parents decide (over-rule) what their child study, at P5.
eg. choose Standard / Foundation subjects, etc.

at end of P5 : they say that school has a final say, can over-rule what their child study, at P6 (PSLE)


recently, school had marked and returned my friend's son P5 SA2 Higher Chinese papers ... and he failed.
School advised him to drop Higher Chinese, next year P6. But my friend insists that her son carry on with HCL, into P6.
is he allowed to continue with HCL ? Thank you

Not sure if it’s an MOE requirement but at my DD’s school, we have been briefed the same I.e p4 to p5 - parents have a say, p5 to p6- school has final say. The requirement is that CL has to be 75 and above, and HCL gotta pass.

So far she hasn’t had Eng tuition but I find that there are times when I can’t really explain the grammar/s&t rules to her/correct her comprehension answers well when she does the past year papers. Wondering if I shd start her on English tuition. Any good recommendations for paper 2 English tuition? Thanks!
