sumo22:haha.. looks like you have your choice obvious. You had PV done for both schools? In order to be in Phase 2B, you must have done 40 hours PV in both the schools to be able to \"choose\". I don't remember RMPS and/or RVPS had ballot @ Phase 2B. So it is pretty safe for you, \"hopefully\". You must know your phase well before you even start choosing. If you are in Phase 2C within 1km, you are still in the safe circle. But if you are within 2 km... then you better do your homework nicely.I visited both schools & like RVPS better in terms of environment cos its newer. Radin Mas is pretty old & the admin office is quite messy - not sure if this reflects the school management![]()
But then I'm aware that Radin Mas seem to have pretty decent results compared to RVPS.
This is a stressfull decision to make!! I will be under Phase 2B (since within 2 km) for both but we will not know if ballot is required. If i'm fine with either school, what should I do to make sure I get into 1 of these 2 schools eventually? Do I have to embed 1 parent in each school also? Sorry if the qn sounds dumb..

RE: [Bukit Merah] Primary Schools
sumo22:
I have checked & the sad answer is NO
No affiliation to River Valley High at all.
if that's the case, I think Radin Mas is a better choice.
I dunno, that's my preference. My kid didnt get into RMPS but I've heard a lot of good stuffs about this school. Higher portfolio than RVPS.
Zhangde is quite a new school and the school portfolio's are improving. They ran into ballot last year probably due to higher demand around Bukit Merah especially CHIJ & RMPS. Thus many turns to Zhangde. -

does RVPS affiliate to RVPS (Secondary)?? If yes then, it is wiser to go with the affiliation school.Hi everyone,
I have the same question as Titank. I have signed up for PV at Radin Mas but also contemplating River Valley Primary. The admin at RVPS said they never have to ballot before (within 2 km) except for the dragon year.
I'm within 2 km for both Radin Mas & RVPS. Not sure which is a better environment with better teachers/principal & curriculum.
Any sharing or advise out there will be much appreciated! Thanks! -

Have you considered Radin Mas & Zhangde? Of all I know, CHIJ Kellock isnt as bad as you thought, really. You can make a trip to the schools during their open day next year before deciding. Are you staying very close to Henry Park? If yes, this will be the best option...Hi niecoco,
Not for the 2009 intake actually. My boy is for 2010 intake, so I'm still sourcing around for information. If not for the merge in 2009, New Town would have been my first choice. Am worried about the merge. Err... went through Ghim Moh website and their PSLE ranking from MOM release, doesn't seen to be even close to Queenstown.
My neighbour, whose girl is in Queenstown Pri told me that the school is no good but didn't elaborate further. :?
My friend, whose girl is in CHIJ (Kellocks), isn't doing well in her studies and she really regretted going through the balloting and arranging the school bus transport just to go CHIJ. She said the teachers are not committed in helping with her school work but are very concerned in raising enough $$ for this and that carnival, school event etc... -

Hi winth,Hi everyone,
There wasn't a reply from New Town Pri via email so I called them up personally for a check. They said they had no history of posting their results on the web and now they are busy preparing for their PSLE. So guess that means none will entertain me...
Called MOE to check too but they said they couldn't help either...
New Town seems good but am really worried about the merge with Ghim Moh in 2009. The officer I spoke to even told me that they don't know which principal is going to head the school and all the staff list are, right now, private and confidential.
I too called New Town Pri about 2 months ago and like you, seeking for information PSLE. I was being told that they are not sure of the historical data.
New Town Pri principal will remain. You will see the information in their website. Have you registered your kid in New Town Pri? If yes, then there isnt much you can worried about. They are moving into the new campus, so I think should be a lil' messy at the start. -

If you have any good recommendation, please share. Thanks.
Hi Poonie.
My girl was balloted out from RGPS. I enrolled her to BTPS (Bukit Timah Primary School). Good that you asked me about the Student Care Ctr. I found 1 that is really very good and reliable. I brought my girl there and she love it. Their courses are intensive. They provide tuition too. Food is good as I was there and the person in charge showed me around, even food too. They have students coming from Henry Park, Pei Hwa, RGPS, BTPS and MGPS. So my girl is going to mingle with kids from these good schools. You can visit their webpage at http://www.thekidzclub.com.sg/. Alternatively, you may want to contact Madam Lim at her centre at 6464-6468. She is very helpful & friendly person. The environment is clean and nice. Kids in that centre are all well behaved and well mannered. You can contact Madam Lim and inform her that you are being recommended by Mrs Choo. She should remember me. Dont worry, I wont get any commison for recommending you.Honestly, the fees are reasonable given reason that they have tuition slot of at least 1.5 hours per day. They also give multiple assessments and get the children ready for exams. I called up many centres and visited some but have not been impressed with those centres. I am very pleased with Kidzclub though. You should really visit this centre. I am sure RGPS have transport arrangement to this centre as it is along Bukit Timah area...
Let me know if you need further information. I am willing to share

Just to add.mom48:
I stay around Marine Parade. I'm looking for primary school which is nearby my place. As you must know, all primary schools (Tao Nan, Ngee Ann, Tanjong Katong) near my place are hot. So I don't have any chance to get my son in (because my son stay on DP). I would like to ask, does anybody know about Opera Estate, Bedok Green and Telok Kurau? I saw in teletex, those school still have vacancies. Which better should I choose. Thank a ton.
Hi mom48.
I think Bedok Green is better than the 2. Why dont you try browsing through its website and visit the school. It will help.
2007 PSLE
Overall, 96.5% of the P6 cohort of 284 pupils (including 44 P6EM3 pupils) passed and were placed in secondary schools. We would like to congratulate the top pupil – Amanda Charmaine Eng for her outstanding performance – she scored an aggregate of 277 and is now studying in Raffles Girls’ Secondary School together with Ho Ruth Ariel, another pupil with excellent results. -

I really hope you are not serious about this because this is a tall order even for us adults. You can't mould giftedness into children. No child should be subject to such expectations from their parents.
You are right, gifted programme cant be mould but I will prepare her to do above benchmark in her school. I really hope that she can make it to the top, and haha not because of her sisters... its for her own. For her sisters, I am planning to do PV and get them to a better school. Already start planning.. but still long long way to go.
my kid, is not a prodigy but she can do it if we guide her. She just need direction.
