    • RE: University courses

Left 100% to the child’s decision without any (bias) input from parents, I’ve personally come across a handful of kids who opted for Uni courses in a more applied learning environment and enrolled in SUTD & SIT, despite achieving RP of high 80s/90. Some parents have not heard of these 2 Universities or their courses in Singapore. NUS & NTU, and possibly SMU are more popular.

Dear fellow parents, can a student do both E2k Science and E2k Math? Or he can only do one?

If it's possible to do both, how is the workload like? Are there a lot of assignments?

My child is invited to do the E2k Science. He likes both Science and Math and he is thinking whether it is possible to do both.

      Thank you! 🙂
It depends on your child’s school policy.

The 2 programs were conducted on the same day of the week. My dd was offered both, so she had to choose 1. I support this arrangement as it allows more students to participate in such enrichment opportunities. If I’m not wrong, there’s a cap of 25 students per class. As far as I can recall, no assignments

May I know which are the 3 most competitive Performing Arts cca to get in, pls? What are the pre requisites for each?

      Thank you

Not sure as my girl not in performing arts, maybe International Dance? No specific pre-requisite, but there will be CCA audition/trials for those who are interested to join the CCA.

      Thank you!

      Hi all,

Are there parents who have girls travelling from the West (Clementi) to CGS?
How long does it take to reach in the morning peak hour?
Do you travel by MRT (EW line->Circle line->NE line), drop at Potong Pasir and walk 15 mins to school?

      Thanks!
According to google map, there is a direct bus (154) from Clementi to cedar. By train, it’s a combi of EW line & NE line, alight at Potong Pasir.

Hundreds of Cedar girls take that walk every sch day, rain or shine. I’d like to believe that, most if not all, made Cedar their choiced sch despite that 12 min walk. The distance ain’t too bad as they usually walk with friends anyway. Let your girl try out the route. If that 12 min walk puts her off, then she’s not ready for the school because she’ll start the day unhappy.

Extra info. - On rainy day, there’s the option to alight at Woodleigh Station to take a bus (I think 1 stop), alight along Upper Aljunied Road, and walk 7min to Cedar (partly sheltered). My dd prefer to just walk from Potong Pasir

      Hi All,
My DD got 266. She is deciding between RGS n CEDAR. Any pros/cons, your suggestions/experiences pls.
      Thanks.
I am interested in the responses to your question. I am also deciding between these 2 schools. My dd1 was from Cedar. She enjoyed her time in Cedar very much. Dd1 was blessed with very good teachers. Cedar and VJ has a nice, comfortable ‘kampong’ feel (my opinion only). Dd2 has a very different personality and interests and I hope to find a good fit for her. Certainly not ruling out Cedar. I watched RGS online open house video. Very impressive campus.

:offtopic: Cedar’s COP may be 25x. But in my dd1’s cohort, there were no lack of girls scoring 26x and 27x.

Average class size is 33 for Y2 classes; between 6-8 from GEP... expect bigger classes around 35 each now.

Monthly school fees must include additional $40 for miscellaneous fees.
      Thank you!

Can current Y1 or Y2 parents kindly advise/shed some light on the following -

      1. Average class size
      2. Percentage of students from GEP
      3. On hindsight, is RGS still your choice of school given that your girl scored very close to the COP of RGS
      4. Besides the monthly school fees, what other out-of-pocket expenses to take note of

      Thank you very much
