Dear mummies and daddies
Can anyone share their experiences enrolling their children on kids' runs (eg. standard chartered kids dash, cold storage run)?
Would love to expose my 3yo dd on such events but am really skeptical whether its worth the effort. Furthermore, my dd isnt the super sporty sort. I keep having the phobia that she may fall down and get crushed by the crowd!

Hi Pearlyshell, thanks for the info! Does your fren know who the new operator is? Will the philosophy and curriculum be continued?
Hi Shabaka, I'm not so sure. You may want to call the centre and check with them directly.

Pure Purple:
Thanks Pure Purple for taking the effort to pen down your experience! I'll be sure to check them out. :thankyou:Hi!
Check this document out to compare fees for all preschools in Singapore. Go to this website, on the right hand panel, under the heading \"For parents\", click on \"Kindergartens profiles\". You'll find the list of all preschools and their respective fees plus other info.

Hi Pearlyshell. It uses a play-based curriculum, so the classroom had different learning corners. Pretend play toys, crafts n paints, blocks etc. The teachers teach letters and phonics. There was writing at N2. I can't remember how many chinese lessons there were, sorry. But i remember chinese weekend homework. It was regular but not overwhelming. The teacher made learning the language and chinese culture enjoyable. Essentially, these are very caring, gentle and competent teachers. It was a very inclusive environment. I think when the child grow to like and trust their teachers, in a secured environment, they flourish.
They always had an auntie for tea time, sometimes she cooked healthy snacks, like red bean soup, or bee hoon. Sometimes, it was simpler, like bread with kaya. Milo too. Yummy!
They do sufficient outdoors, weather permitting. There were those lovely trikes and walk-cars. They even had a lovely garden then.
Nursery 2 is a 3-hr programme, whilst the K1/2 are 4 hours.
The end-of-year concert was a fantastic musical show, the MP was there. My child had one at Siglap CC concert hall. Theirs was the only school, so every child even the Nursery kids participated. It was very memorable for us. For Chinese New Year, they invited a lion dance troupe right into the school ground. Many parents were there too. Another unforgettable experience, cos the kids got up close with the dancing lions.
The only thing is that i wish the teachers had more rest time!
The classrooms were well cleaned by employed cleaners at the end of each school day, and the gardens were cleared over the weekend by a gardener.
I hope my information is still accuarate as we left 1year+ ago. Best to arrange for a visit. This is a very welcoming school. -
RE: Flat Feet Problem
MMM:
She also commented that as kids' feet are growing and those custom made soles are not cheap so she usually ask parents to get off the rack... But if the soles can indeed last the child for 2 years (eg. with growing feet)
Hi MMM, can the custom made soles really last 2 years? -
RE: Flat Feet Problem
Hi parents
Is flat feet a condition that the kid is born with? or is it something which can be prevented? I have a colleague who told me both her kids have it and its due to wearing shoes without proper support when they are younger. Not sure if this is true or not… -
RE: Little Skool House@ Fidelio
I have a girlfren who enrolls her DD there. She told me the centre is bought over by a new operator and the parents were told to either stay with them or look for alternatives. I guess she wasn’t too please on the way the principal delivered the message.

When should a child start seeing a dentist? I so scared to send my DD to one. :yikes:

RE: What enrichment classes to send 15 mths bb
Make a point to interact with your bb. Given the work commitments of modern mummies, its easier said than done. :imdrowning: :imdrowning:
But once you have established that constant reading, singing, talking schedule, you will realise that your bb will eventually pick up a lot of information through this informal learning methods. Not to mention the close bonds that are developing along the way. :snuggles: :snuggles: Beats any form of \"scientifically researched\" enrichment. -

Pure Purple:
I strongly recommend PCF (Joo Chiat). It's a gem for easterners, located at Telok Kurau, off Still Road.
It's the only PCF kindergarten with its own private landed playground. I like the small set-up, not too threatening for our little ones.
PCF's low fees are a great plus. The school bus service is so child-friendly if you need it, the bus uncles have been with the School for over a decade.
The Chinese teacher Chen Laoshi is fantastic! My girl learnt to speak Mandarin by the end of her Nursery year, with her guidance and patience.
We left last year, but I'm aware the Chinese teacher is still there.
Hi pure purple, we went pass the t.kurau PCF before but never really put too much thoughts about it. But with the ever increasing preschool fees, me and my DH really need to look for viable alternatives!! :moneyflies: :moneyflies:
Can you enlighten me on how the usual PCF classes are conducted? I'm concerned about the amount of learning the kids received there. How many Chinese lessons do the kids get a day? Also, are there lessons which kindof \"brainwash\" the kids? ahem ahem... if you know what i mean... :censored:
:thankyou:
