TiredSouls:Is it too late for a 15 year old to learn fencing now? Any advice?
Not at all, some of the national fencers also picked up the sport quite late, e.g. national fencer wang wenying picked up fencing at 16.

動作應該用敏捷。
I think 3 is the correct answer.
KitKat Cat:Chinese is actually a major factor in my decision since I want to improve do that makes nanyang a better option in that aspect, but it's important for me to have a multi racial society since I'm a Indian Chinese mix. I agree that at this time it's the best period to master another language, and since my father doesn't speak Chinese this is a big plus point. On the other hand, I'm not that great at chinese so I might struggle in nanyang. I'm sure the teachers there will be able to help, but I want more of a balance between English and Chinese and I'm afraid that I might fall behind due to not being able to practice much.
phtthp:I think there is still retention. [quote]Performance of 2014 Primary 6 Cohort1no more retention, if fail PSLE, channel them to Northlight Secondary.Petlover:
Then how about those who need to be retained ?
Northlight is for those struggling with Mainstream, or failed in at least 2 PSLE attempt, according to its description here

If autistic, some may goto Pathlight Secondary.
Nebbermind:Then how about those who need to be retained ?Petlover:I also cannot find that from the MOE website, but from different sources I learnt that 152 should be the COP for N(A), and the minimum COP for N(T) is like a mystery. I've seen school with COP of 85 for N(T) admission. Some specialised N(T) schools didn't even disclose their pupils' statistics on the MOE web site, and didn't specify a COP for admission.
If NT is the lowest track they can go to after PSLE, then where got COP?

Base on the prelim result which she did very badly . I doubt she is able to make it 200 pts range. Most likely she will be getting between 160 to 180 range.
couldn't find the link inside Moe website that state The lowest cut off point to enter Normal Academic), or Normal (Technical) Secondary stream.
If anyone happen to come across the hyperlink, appreciate if u can show us the URL. Thanks.
Cher2101:Depends on the conditions of offer of School A, most likely she'll be posted to school A in your scenario.DS got one CO from school A and WL from school B.
School A have Express, Normal(A) and Normal(T) classes. School B has only Express class.
If she place school B as 1st choice and school A as 2nd choice. What will happen if her PSLE result only get 160?
Will she be posted to school A??
If 200 points is the minimum for express course, what is the minimum for normal(A)?
nlhyx:If one is given a confirmed place through DSA into an IP school (SCGS), how much must one get for the aggregate? Is there a a cut off point still? Help.
Aberc:I also noticed something similar, and this is disheartening... :sad:Our school never gave us the std dev although we did have the mean score for each subject. My dd1 2013 PSLE agg is 2 points higher than 0.75 X prelim total. 2 of her classmates who scored the same as her in prelims got 3 points lower for PSLE than their estimates. So maybe accuracy of plus/minus 5 points? Provided the school's performance is similar to national standards.
However, the top student in her school whose estimate based on prelims was 280 scored at the lower end of 26X and she was not the top student for PSLE. 2 other students who took only 3 subjects scored way better than her although she scored highest in every subject for prelims. Just a side note, from my small social circle, I have noted that generally those exempted from MT score unexpectedly better at the PSLE. I believe MOE has never been revealed how the T-score is calculated for exempt cases. Those of my frens whose kids were MT exempted were all pleasantly surprised by their kids' PSLE T-scores.
