Anyone knows how is the class allocation at P5 next year? Is 5B the best class? My son was at 4B this year but shifted to 5A next year. Is it a drop?

According to previous years - 5B students take higher chinese whereas 5A students take MT

Any problem surviving in HCI for kids who are weak in Chinese writing and speaking?

I am concern about HCI Chinese standard too. Any remedial classes for the weaker students?

      Prettydol,

If yr DS put RL WL as first choice and HCI WL1 as 2nd choice, does it mean that HCI will no longer guarantee u with the conversion to CO ?
So yr DS may end up with not getting anything ? I believe HCI will assure u a conversion to CO only if u list HCI as 1st choice? Can u pls help to adv ?

My friend DS has gotten WL2, so the chance is even slimmer.
That’s my understanding as well. There is a parent briefing session next week and HCI will explain on this.

My DS is the bochap type. Now that he received WL, it still doesn't motivate him to study harder for his prelim/PSLE. Really worried for him, how to excel in PSLE? I would prefer to enter the school through DSA to reduce the PSLE stress. Should my DS select HCI, my only worry is his Chinese as this is his weakest subject. Not sure if he can cope.

Prettydol, I think my DS can be good friends with your DS 😂 They have so much in common :hugs:

I guess we still need to push them to work really hard for PSLE no matter which school they ended up in ultimately. RI and HCI both have rigorous programs so they better wake up now then later :nunchuk:

Have been pushing...sometimes I wonder who is taking exam, my DS or me? :frustrated:
I am in a dilemma now. DS got RI WL and HCI WL1. According to HCI, WL1 will still gain admission. DS wants to go RI while we prefer to secure a place in HCI. Headache!

In the same boat as Prettydol :slapshead: . How huh?! Any one can advise? :salute:

It is hard to advise but you can consider the following in your thoughts process and weigh the points that are critical to him.

      1. nothing is guaranteed in RI's WL but HCI's WL1 is guaranteed. (the saying 'a bird in hand is worth 2 in the bush') Doing HCI's DSA is also not easy...your child has to understand that.
      2. only your child knows if he will be miserable in HCI (culture & environment is important for a child to thrive)
      3. only your child knows how much he is motivated to strive to get RI's COP, relying on a closer COP together with WL is a better bet since the queue number is not known. (appeal will be better chance even if missed COP slightly)
      4. Can your child accept missing both boats? Any 3rd choice to make him happy? (just in case)

Most importantly, the child is the one going to the school so the child's choice has to play the bigger role in order for lesser rebellion during the teenage years. No one really knows what's best until in hindsight.

And you only need to think about this in October...so meanwhile relax.

      My 2 cents.
My DS is the bochap type. Now that he received WL, it still doesn't motivate him to study harder for his prelim/PSLE. Really worried for him, how to excel in PSLE? • RE: Mindstretcher - Discussion

My son was transferred to P4 GEP program this year. Currently he is attending home based group tuition and I am afraid the standard may be too low for me. I am considering to let him attend MS english lesson at Punggol/Serangoon or Bishan.

But after reading through this forum, seems like MS is not really that good.

Does anyone has comments on P4 classes at these centres to share?

I have a friend who used to work in Mind Stretcher.

According to her, there are lots of worksheet to complete and it’s very difficult too. So not all children can absorbed.
