For normal prefect, one can still try to apply under leadership but if not in EXCO, very slim chance of getting shortlisted for interview (unless you have a supporting EAGLES award to back you up).

GTGT:
Maybe, she is just a normal prefect, not in EXCO.
Does she have any leadership role? Maybe that is the reason -

Rectitude:
Similar to my niece from mainstream. She DSA by Chinese (results 90+ since P4) to RGS, not even selected for interview. Maybe due to her science results, low 80.
My DD's classmate with high 80s/ low 90s didn't even get invited for e HDP at RGS n Interview at NYGH. Think she used Bilingual n Chinese, her HCL is like 94-95 kind. Seriously, no guide what they are looking for.lee_yl:
Just curious...
For this year ACADEMIC domain (not taking about sports, CCA etc), was anyone with their P5/P6 overall being in the 70s range given a chance to attend RGS/NYGH interview?
I used to think DSA by Chinese is the easiest domain as not many students are strong in Chinese but it does not seem so now. -

It’s not R school. I heard she applied R school using Chinese but not shortlisted for interview even though her Chinese results is also 90+ and one of the winners in SHHK writing competition. Perhaps she is from MS that’s why!! Anyway I am not aware TOP is just limited to R&H. Dunman, SNGS etc are 2nd tier schools?!private:
My niece went for IP bilingualism interview at 2 of the TOP IP schools. All irrelevant certificates such as dance, music etc by 3rd party providers were all threw back. Even though she’s piano grade 8 and ballet grade 5, those schools she went to were not interested. They only wanted to know her achievement in EL and CL, that’s all!
Which are 2 of the TOP IP schools that offer Bilingualism?
To me, TOP IP schools are R and H schools.
When DD1 applied via Sc, school threw back her ICAS Science P4 cert, MO competition certs and music certs.
When DD2 applied to TOP IP schools, they asked for school leadership position (if any), MO certs, community service (value in action), on top of school results and EL/CL related certs.
At first, she thought she had an edge over the rest as she has scholarship, ECHA and Eagles award. Who knows the other kids in her interview group are also recipients of all these awards, nothing special! End of the day, it is all about how you sell and promote yourself during the interview, just like applying for a marketing director position!
DSA is getting increasing tough for academic domain, highly competitive!! Good academic results alone is insufficient to get selected for interview, unlike my elder son’s time 4 years ago. Now, it might be better off applying via sports or uniform group. -

RE: DSA 2019
Academic results is by far the most important criteria for DSA. After which, try to get both certificates - EAGLES and ECHA in P5, it really boost your chance.
You do not even need teacher’s testimonial because these 2 certificates represent everything! You have good character, intelligent and can lead! This is one strong candidate that every school will grab. -

SNGS, VS and SJI leadership all notified, according to my son’s senior prefects.

RE: [Bukit Merah] Primary Schools
Highly recommending ALPS. A close friend is full of praise for the P. An extremely nice and caring principal. Heard she was from another popular primary school.
Compulsory enrichment lessons are banded and stronger students get to learn additional stuff to stretch their potential. Weaker students are given time to catch up. While many schools are doing away with extra classes so that teachers can have more time to moonlight, ALPS still believe in doing extra for the benefit of all students. ALPS students are also coached in 7-habits. Very few schools have this programme. -
RE: Choosing and Evaluating Primary Schools
Bear in mind this year Marymount will be an extremely popular backup school in 2Cs. I already heard of some people in my office saying if balloted out in 2C, the most send their girl to Marymount. Those balloted out from nearby schools like IJ TP, SNGS, Pei Chun, Ai Tong, Rosyth etc will turn to Marymount. It may not be a choice school but still not too bad.

RE: Horizon Primary
Wa Lao, I did not know bringing cards to school is such a serious offense that canning need to be exerted. It was too extreme!! Hope that VP is mentally sound. If I were that boy’s parent, I will confirm sue that VP! He is fortunate to be in a neighbourhood school where maybe parents are more forgiving.
