Agreed totally. 3k from cpf to cover basic cost and supplement with other income source. 5k per month for a couple should be reasonable. Any savings from unused 5k can go towards contingency like adhoc replacement of household items, massage, nearby destination travel. For expansive travel, dip into savings pool

Haha. Good way to save also. Spinmop free from buying tissue. I marinate chicken wing with the ntuc fairprice brand of sauce. When needed then defrost to airfry. Need more innovative saving.method -

For healthier living option,
Salmon 3 slice $10×3 + veg and egg $10 plus breakfast $10 . Total $50 per day (1.5k per month) for a couple.
Utilities, phone bill,wifi, conservancy = 400
Doctor/dentist trip, transport =300
Clothes =100
Out of 3k, balance of 700 left can use it for movies, shopping, seafood restaurant or add more variety to healthier food options(organic food)
Any other expenses i omitted? -
RE: How much is enough for retirement in Singapore?
Hi Sun
CPF payout amount changes as frs increase yr on yr.
Now the payout is approx 1.5k if cpf oa+sa is $192k (frs). If this payout is adequate to meet the current basic need of an individual (subject to lifestyle) who is 50 years old, the increase in payout value when the person reaches age 55 should correspondingly be able to cater to the inflation over the years for the same lifestyle needs.
For my expenditure above basic needs, it will be covered by rental income and annuity.
However Rental income might not increase year on year given that it is subject to alot of factor. Hence the value of projected income today e.g. $2k will be worth lesser in years to come. -

There is policy risk for cpf. In case of any changes to withdrawal policy, then money transfer in has to follow their amended policy (if any). So pls effect transfer only if you have spare cash. Otherwise wait for covid over and put in fixed deposit when rates increas -

RE: How much is enough for retirement in Singapore?
Hi my pillow
Cpf website be the best to check as they may review time to time.
My limited understanding is after age 55, interest on ord acc be 2.5. First20k in ord acc has additional2%. Subject to review
At age 55, special acc amount if already meet frs be transfer to RA. Excess in special acc will be entitled to 4% interest.
Therefore as I want some flexibity interm of payout, i will choose to only opt frs into RA. Instead of ERS.
Excess of FRS keep in special or ordinary to still earn 2.5 to 4%. If need to between 55 to 65, can draw out partial or whole.
Given my age now, near to 50 year old. I will not recommend to buy the insurer retirement policy now. I bought the policy back in 30s. If you are in 30s or early 40, i think this is still feasible option.
Instead now at 50 year old, using cpf like a fixed deposit tool be a better option as only 5 year more before i can tap on the funds above FRS. -

Even if you miss the boat of buy and sell property, so long as you have enough to cover your needs and a roof over head. You are doing well. Cheers -

Agree Nasi lemak
So long as we have property
Options are open… rent out… downgrade… leasebuyback
Unless property prices dip significantly… then 完了
