No. MOE will not use the same questions. In fact, I don’t think there’s a retest date. Children who are absent for PSLE oral or any paper will not get to take it. MOE has its own method to calculate and generate the children’s scores.

If I bought a place at another place and it’s not MOP yet, can I still rent a place within 1km of the desired school for the purpose of P1 registration?

In case I am not clear, say my house will only MOP in 2028, can I rent another place in 2026 and put it as my address for P1 registration purpose?

I am asking as if the house is not MOP yet, I would be listed as the owner for my house. Will there be any problem in renting another place and calling it my address?

If a phase is oversubscribed, most school admins will call up those that have no chance to ballot, but I think that is discretionary.

As for rental, I believe the rule is that the NRIC of one of the parents MUST be that of the rental flat. I'm not sure if the whole family can squeeze inside one room, but there are no rules that say otherwise.
Thank you for the response. I am just wondering if we have to show the lease agreement in order to prove that we rent a room there? Shouldn’t be, right - if the IC already reflected the address?

For Phase 2A, if a ballot exercise is required due to overwhelming number of registrants, am I right to say that the school would look through the list and tell those who are outside 2km that they would not get a seat?

To secure the chance of getting into the school, can I rent a room and use it as my address for P1 registration? Or must I rent the whole house?

Wow thanks! Haven’t been in the game so am out of touch. Now I am clearer about balloting at 2A. Thanks!

      :? :? :?

It has always been the case that Phase 2A onwards (previously Phase 2A1, Phase 2A2) will be subjected to distance priority. This isn't the only year that balloting occurs at this stage. SNGS, CHS, etc are all regular balloting schools in this phase.
Thanks for your patient replies. I am aware that Phase 2B onwards go by distance priority so schools only admit a certain number of parent volunteers to ensure that most PVs would get a place for their kids. I am also aware of Phase 2C going by distance priority. I am just unsure about balloting at Phase 2A.

When my friends told me that 2A1 and 2A2 are merged now, I was under the impression that they put every ballot slip from the whole population of 2A1 and 2A2 into the ballot box and pull out the ballot slips, regardless of distance.

If it goes by distance now, that means those who are out of 2km do not even stand a chance at balloting at Phase 2A? But I don’t seem to hear about news of that happening.

So distance priority is not limited to Phase C now?

Even Phase 2A is subjected to distance priority? Are there statistics of school-balloting at Phase 2A based on the distance?
