      Hello
      Can someone advise me please.
My child scored a total of 15.
Do you think its ok for me to apply for school with 13 as cut off point? Please help. This AL system is soo tough

Usually to play safe, apply for school 1-2 point lower than the cut-off points.. Year to Year comparision is usually +- 1 point only.. For 2 point away from the cut off point, it is VERY RISKY. Not worth the risk. But you can try if u really want too.. but chances are very low in my view...

Yes, I understand what you mean....Really in a dilemma

      Hi,
I am also considering Crescent for my girl. Would appreciate if someone can answer these quests.
May I know if Crescent is strong in language and humanities?
      ...

      hello ! graduated sec4 crescentian here !

im not too sure if crescent is considered strong in languages/humanities but i will say the english and humanities department has many passionate and dedicated teachers who are willing to go the extra mile for us ! at least for upper sec (i have somewhat forgotten what lower sec was like ahah 😅) the english, chinese, history and lit teachers give a lot of resources and are very willing to help us out and answer any queries we have about the subjects ! (i cannot speak for the other mother tongues/geog as i dont take those subjects)
      ...

      Dear StrawberryPancakes
Thank you for the detailed reply. Much appreciate it. I am actually in a dilemma between SCGS and CGS cos of the distance(SCGS is nearer) and Dance CCA( SCGS is more to ballet) and also super difficult to get in. Looks like it is equally difficult at CGS. I believe the dance group must be participating in competitions and events. My girl loves performing. After reading your reply , I feel that CGS might be more suitable place for my girl. We did apply for CGS under DSA. My daughter went thru the interview and audition for dance but unfortunately wasn't given a place. I didn't apply for SCGS as they weren't offering Tamil. Strangely, Tamil is offered now.
Let's see if she can make it to CGS with her PSLE results. Thank you!

What is the subject combination offered in Sec 3
      Is it competitive
Is it tough to get into dance CCA
I have heard from many that Crescent is a nurturing environment. Only distance is a concern now

    • RE: Singapore Chinese Girls School (Secondary)

      Hi

Thank you for all your replies. I have a clearer picture of the difficulty in joining dance CCA . Looks like only the cream of the crop is selected. Some of you mentioned the IP classes consist of girls from other schools and so it’s easy to make friends and blend in. How about the O level track? I doubt my girl can make it to the IP track.

      Hello

My daughter just completed PSLE. SCGS is one of my top choices because it offers Tamil and the distance from home. I would like to know more about the Tamil subject in SCGS sec. Anyone with kids taking Tamil here please share your experience and advice.
Also, my daughter is passionate about dance. She is in ballet but has completed grade 4 and pursuing grade 5 now with Sylvia Mccully Dancing school. Is it tough to enter the dance CCA in SCGS?
Do girls from other schools blend in easily?
      Would appreciate any advice.
      Thank you

Hi, I am considering OrthoK for my daughter with high astigmatism. 275 on both sides.

I stumbled upon a shop called AeroV in Upper Thomson. Please advice me if you have patronized their services. Or any other place ?

Roberta, don’t worry, I fell into Phase 2C. Had no problem securing a seat for my girl in MCS.
