RE: Secondary Schools - West
lfcanfield:
Hi,
Need some advise for secondary school in West.
My son PSLE score was 214 and I'm thinking of choosing :-
Choices in order Last year minimum aggregate score
1. Choa Chu Kang 217
2. West Spring 223
3. Westwood 211
4. Zhenghua 210
5. Dunearn 204
6. Greenridge 206
I know my 1st and 2nd choices are risky but I'm more concern on my 3rd and 4th choices order. Expected him to get the 3rd or 4th choices.
just my personal opinion, its better to put westwood and Zhenghua as ur 1st and 2nd. Its safer, otherwise your 1st choice will be wasted.
Can anyone assist me in my 3rd and 4th choices order?
I went to both school open house today, and was please with Zhenghua, looks more lively in the school if compare to Westwood as Westwood did not shows a lot.
Is there any other secondary school to suggest to me.
I'm staying in Chua Chu Kang.
Appreciate any advices, comments and recommendation. -
RE: Choose Secondary school for 2010

By doing so, i'm afraid my kid will suffer, he might end up the worst in his cohort. There's also ego issue to consider. When choosing for the sec school, beside COP, i also look at the mean score. Am i worry too much?If your child score 235 and he can't get into school with COP (Cut-Of-Point) of 235, there is always good chance to appeal. I have successfully done it for my 2 children, appealing to Dunman High and Tanjong Katong). I have also helped some parents to appeal for different kind of scenarios (switching from N-Level to Express ... etc)
If you need help, leave a message at: http://singapore.math-chinese-tutor.com/contact-us/ . I am going away for holiday in December. Should be back in Singapore when the Secondary schools announce their intakes. -

the COP for fairfield (non affiliation) is quite high, but the banding is 7 for 2008 and 4 for 2007. The school can't produce good \"O\" level result. One of the reason could be big disparity b/w affiliate and non affiliate, the average score was pulled down as a result. Is this environment good for student esp for those who come from non affiliated schools. :? Can any expert shed some light on this?thanks redred wine.
Fairfield cutoff for non-affiliated also very high, 247, if not wrong.
SJI , a bit far and school fees high. Don't know worth the traveling and the high fees if can get in? :? -

Thanks everyone.
As the results not out yet, i can only guestimate around prob 220 - 240.
I checked the list. FuHua, Swiss Cottage seems within reach. Commonwealth too.
Comments on these schools are appreciated. And any sharing of other schools too are welcome.
Thanks.
Same same for my son, just that i've included Nan Hua in my radar as well.
Would appreciate any info, comments , etc on these schools ...
What about Fairfield at Dover? If your kid is able to handle the distance, SJI and St Andrew also around the range of 240. btw St Andrew is MRT accessible. -

ACS is ok?CrazyDad:
Hi,
Any recommended school in the west for an agg 240 boy?
But if you can get 14 more marks then go to River Valley High School, this is an IP school, but only need 254 to go in.

A few more points could probably earn him a place in Nan Hua, but in worst scenario, any comparison of the neighbourhood schools in the west? Commonwealth, Swiss Cottage, Fuhua Sec, which is better?
You can find out more at the open house at Commonwealth Sch and Nan Hua on 28.11.09.
