Thanks. Asked my boy and he replys he wants 100% white shoes, haha...

Ya, my DS also wore 100% white shoes (with white shoe laces) and white socks, when he was in Sec-1.. But DS says he wants to wear sports shoes (predominantly white, with a few colour stripes) when he goes to Sec-2 next year.. I ask DS if it is acceptable in school, DS says yes..

That's why I say \"preferable white socks & shoes (& white shoe laces) for the Year 1s (Sec-1s must be 乖乖 ma ).. But a little colour is certainly acceptable for the older boys (but I still do not know how to ensure that it is at least 70% white).. 😉

Welcome to RI.. Does your DS like to Gong Toh Li too? Haha!! 😄

His knows entering sec school means transition, physically and emotionally, haha, he still enjoys being a kid, want only white white shoes, not so willing to upsize his shirt and slippers,... to him teenagers are like strange people, . . 😂[/quote]Would suggest predominantly white sports shoes, I find these double up as running shoes when they hv PE lessons & give better support than canvas shoes.

Quite a few of my ds friends are down with fever after the kiwi cup. Heard that a lot of them were seated in the sun for a long time. Do watch out for your boys and make sure they drink enough fluids…

For us although Cat High is the nearest GEP school, we prefer a Christian non-SAP boys school which leaves us with ACS. DS loves playing chess and was in the school team. He hopes to go to a school with a good chess team & that will be ACS. He told us from the start that he hopes to study in ACS. 🙂
If we live in Toa Payoh, is that near enough a proximity for MOE to also consider our application for a place there?:)
my ds is in p6 gep this year, in ACS. we don't live near acs but I indicated reason that I am a christian who wants son to go to a christian school, and we got our first choice. My ds is also in the ACS chess team. The chess support there is very good. DS enjoys the school & Gep a lot. The culture is relaxed and the teachers excellent. I have no regrets sending him there.

i love the school, but won't force ds to go there. I think he has set his sights on RI, where most of his friends will be headed..

Btw anyone of you guys went back for the reunion recently ?
I didn't but from photos posted by my friends on facebook, glad to see that Mr Fong is still very healthy. If fact he still looks the same as more than 20 years ago.

Sorry, a bit :offtopic: but I must still say this:
There was one day I went home in the rain, long walk out to the bus stop. Mr Fong quietly appeared out of nowhere and provided me with umbrella shelter all the way out. I was very, very touched.. Can still remember the kind look on his face 😄

To be exact, the 危楼 thing happened in 1st Qtr 1987. We first had to squat in Ngee Ann Poly for a few months, then from July 1987 onwards, we used a school in Woodlands. The site is now occupied by Qi Hua Pri School. Then in 1988, the school moved to Bukit Gombak, which is either the current St Anthony Pri School or Swiss Cottage....can't remember. Near the current driving centre.

Ok... you all know how old I am liao....

That was when HCJC lost it's status as the No 1 JC to RJC and never regain it back.

me too, 危楼 period. very memorable. the last day of school, we scribbled on the walls/pillars, later kenna scolded by P. 😓

my very first post. so happy to receive CO from RI, ACSI and HCI. ds from gep, scored > 80%, bit of an all rounder.

at the same time, i feel the stress for the kids going thru the seletion process & receiving letters in the midst of orals/prelims.
just one more month to psle, everyone jiayou!
