Oops...we are out of town for holiday.

Hi Rio,

So your DS is choosing NUSH or RI?

Mine is still thinking whether to exercise the WL or take a risk and rely on PSLE result and try for Hwa Chong.
We will most likely choose NUSH. I like the curriculum whereby the kids can move at their own pace, and choose to excel in their strong area. And the huge plus point for me is that there is no A level, n yet they are almost secured a place in NUS. I have heard enough of high stress level during JC level, leading to depression. To many of us who has taken A level before, I am sure that's one of the darkest period of our life. And since my son has the chance to skip this option n yet excel in future, why not. Last but not least, they have dedicated, supportive teachers who are always engaging the students. And with the support from NUS n MOE, I think he will have much more opportunity to explore and develop his passion. 😄

DD had 2A2A and her PSLE aggregate was 255. Her fren scored 3A n 1A managed to get 261, which I suspect are all high As very near to A*. Another friend’s kid obtained 4A* last year and his PSLE score was 275.

Anyone know is the possibility of WL turning into CO high in HCI? No one would give up a CO under HCI rite? Signzzz
Actually I already know of 2 boys from my child class that will most likely not take up HCI, cos they have already received CO from another school, and HCI is actually their 2nd or 3rd choice. So I m pretty sure there is a good chance of having WL converted to CO. 😄

Last year RI sports notification was out on 23 Aug 2018 (Thu), tea reception was on 25 Aug 2018 (Sat).
I'm having my phone right next to me, in case this year's schedule is same as last year.

Do you know if for academic, will they also call parents and inform, or we just need to wait for official email?

Will the principal share with us on the number of applicants and CO + WL issued during the Preview later?
I didn't hear any numbers yesterday fr the
evening talk, but I did a simple calculation and there shld b about 240 students there. We will never know how many CO n WL were given out, but the most reassuring statement from yesterday talk was that almost all WL will eventually be converted to CO.
Hi

Just a question here (although it may not sound logical to some). If one gets CO to a dual-track school, and via Academic domain, which usually means IP track, can one appeal to go to the O level track instead, or need to foresake the CO and aim to go into that school's O level track via PSLE ?

Actually can try IP first cos sch still have o level track to fall back to. Actually does anyone know what kind of results will school ask IP to go o
Olevels?

It doesn't mean that

If an IP student cannot cope with IP, automatically can \"route\" back to O-level. This is a misconception, because vacancies must arise in the O level track, before the IP student can go there.

Why ? Because the number of regular O level classes are fixed, there's a quota

Imagine this scenario, not one but more than one IP students request to transfer back O-level concurrently, may be because find that it doesn't suit them, and if the O level class are full house, how ?

St Nick dual-track IP is different, from other IP schools like Dunman High, RI, Hwa Chong and Nanyang Girls High -
Because these four IP schools run \"on-demand\" O-level or \"Structured IP\" classes, for students who have problem coming with IP inside, route them there to take O level instead.

But, St Nick O-level classes are Not run \"on-demand\" basis, unlike them. The number of regular O-level classes are already fixed, means there is a quota fixed. In contrast, those \"on-demand\" class no quota

For students who DSA via Sports into St Nick, if their academic is not quite there, even if very good in certain Sports talent, they won't be selected.
Like wat phtthp had said, it's not as simple as what majority thinks if cannot do well in IP, just switch to O level. There's indeed quota for each track of every school to follow.

DD is in an IP school without the O level track. She has a classmate who consistently did not do well in Sec 1 n Sec 2, eventually failed badly. The mum felt the school is not a good fit for him, n tried to look for an O level school to transfer him out. Unfortunately she was not successful in doing so. DD told us their P said it's not so simply as transferring a student out. Every school has their fixed quota of students. So if a O level school were to take in the boy, that means the P of DD school would hv to 'exchange' n take in a student fr this O level school, to balance up their original quota. But it's almost impossible for a Sec 3 kid of O level track to join their school. The catch up is just too much for the new student. Thus the boy ended up repeating another year in the same school.
