RE: Applying to Universities
Accountancy takes in very good students and is difficult to get Uni Scholarships since it is so competitive.
Are there any external Scholarships for Accountancy students? -
RE: Accountancy Course
My son is a Science Stream student. He got his ‘A’ Levels results in March this year and got a place in NTU Accountancy. He is not sure if he is cut out to read Accountancy. Since he is now serving NS, he can still decide over the next 2 years.
Does the Accountancy course offer good job prospect in Singapore? What is the impact on Accountancy graduates when the door is open to foreign citizens to apply for Accounting jobs here? -
RE: PRIVATE DEGREE : RMIT OR UNI OF BIRMINGHAM
Another good option is the University of Adelaide Bachelor of Commerce (full-time) offered through Ngee Ann-Adelaide Education Centre (NAA). They have specialization in Management, International Business and Marketing. Credit exemptions are given for Polytechnic Diploma holders and the classes are taught by Faculty staff of University of Adelaide.
The University of Adelaide is in the top 1% in Global ranking and in the Group of Eight Universities.

RE: Advice needed. Weigh my chances
jellylulu:
You may want to cast your net wide and try NUS, NTU, SMU and SIM. Getting into Business course in this case should not be a problem. My sense is that the Accountancy course is more stringent in the selection criteria but no harm trying.Hi, my results are as follow
GP C
PW A
Math A
Bio B
Chem B
CSC B
Olvl HCL A1
Total UAS W/O HCL: 81.25
Total UAS W HCL: 82.125
What are my chances of getting into Accountancy or business for all three unis?
BTW, more keen on NTU accountancy and also trying their NAA. What are my chances securing an interivew with NTU?

RE: Applying to Universities
CarrotTree:
The Accountancy programme from Nanyang Business School was originally from NUS. They moved to NTU in the late 80s/early 90s to balance the gender ratio in NTU. The rigour and the recognition by employers and accreditation bodies is definitely there since it has been running for so many years. By the way, this is a 3-year programme leading to a Bachelor degree in Accountancy. Students who did well will graduate with Honours in the 3 years. Top students who wish to stretch themselves further can also try the double degree programme in Accountancy and Business which has a longer duration. Based on the Indiactive Grade Profile, I believed this is the most competitive amongst the 3. The intake is not small though, NTU took in nearly 600 for the Accountancy programme. For accountancy course , which is Uni is good ? - NUS, SMU or NTU. Heard NTU is the best , is it true and its tough ?
For someone not so technical , will doing Accountancy or Bus Admin better ?
Appreciate advice on this
The NUS Accountancy programme is newer than NTU's. It is a Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) and takes more than 3 years to graduate. The intake is about 220.
The SMU Accoutancy programme is also relatively new and takes more than 3 years to complete. The intake is about 280.
For Accountancy programme, you have to like dealing with figures more so than a Business degree. The Accountancy degree is a Professional degree whereas the Business degree is a General Degree.
