• RE: All about Transferring to Other Primary Schools

Hi,

I am trying for a school transfer for my son midterm this year for P2, due to change in address. All the 3 schools within 1km have said they have no vacancies. I do not want my son to travel far for primary school, as I prefer neighbourhood schools. I have approached the schools directly, but they have asked us to wait for the outcome of waitlist.
Any advise?

• RE: Cedar Girls Secondary School

Hi,

Any DDs going to Sec 1 in 2019? My daughter has been posted in Cedar IP programme and I would like to know the parents whose daughters will be joining this year in Sec 1 too 🙂
By the way, I stay in Tampines.
Thanks!

Hi,

I have some P1 text books and P6 text books to give away. Also, have girl’s uniforms (used, not new).
Please let me know if you need it or know someone who needs it.
Thanks.

Just wanted to share some more info for parents who will be exercising their DC's secondary school options during this week. I did some search on Google. Found this MOE website, which is more informative for anyone who are still confused like me:
https://www.moe.gov.sg/microsites/psle/FAQs/posting-changes.html
Hope this helps!

Do note that those changes are only for the 2021 batch.
Those exercising their options this week is still based on the merit over choice system as spelt out in the choosing your sec school 2019 booklet. (Page 3)

Yes. the NOW section is current system 🙂
People should get over this 'safe' 'not safe' 'wasted' idea of making your choices.

It is posting based on their detailed aggregate scores in the PSLE that extend to decimal points.
Merit comes before choices.

This article should be a 'readme first':

Hi,
The article doesn’t clearly specify if they are describing the old or new system. Hence the confusion for newbies like me. Different people suggest different things. Some say that it is based on the choices order. So, I would like to get advice from this forum before we make an irrevocable change.
Many thanks!

Para 2:
\"But the new system will take effect only in 2021. Until then, the old scoring system applies. Pupils go to the secondary school of their choice based on their aggregate score in the PSLE.\"

I know our media is ranked 154th and occasionally promotes fake news by the Government, but in this case, they are quite clear and accurate.
Thank you floppy!

• RE: 2018 PSLE Discussions & Strategies (Born in 2006)

DD has 254 cutoff. Can please provide suggestions on our choices below?

1. NJC (256)
2. Cedar IP (254)
3. Temasek JC (249)
4. ?
5. ?
6. ?
Is it safe to opt for NJC and cedar as first and second choices? If she is not eligible for both, will she surely get into Temasek JC?
Thank you!

• RE: 2018 PSLE Discussions & Strategies (Born in 2006)

Can anyone please explain how the school allocation based on choices work? For the following case:

school A is choice one and school B is choice 2
Last year cut-off for school A is 2 point greater than child’s T-score
Last year cut-off for school B is same as child T-score.
Is it safe to make school preference choices as above? If school A not allocated, will school B be automatically allocated (provided the cut-off is same as last year for both schools)?

TIA
