Just want to share with parents about my children’s time at Mrs Lee’a class. DD and DS attended Primary Math class. Both of very different characters and how Mrs Lee was able to guide them.
DD started lesson at the end of her P5 year. She started her first experience of Mrs Lee’s class through her holiday workshop. DD was weak in Math. I was so desperate to find a Centre that was good and was worried that if this Centre was not the one, how would I be able to find help for DD with such short notice especially when she was going into her final primary school year. She would also need time to learn the concepts taught by the Centre. I knew the Centre was right when DD would always feedback that she has confidence in Mrs Lee’s class and will always say that it was much better than the other centers that she had gone to. DD has the maturity to very objectively compliment the centers that we introduce her. Not on the basis if she has friends there or if the teacher was funny etc. Purely on the ability of the teacher in the Centre. Mrs Lee never lost her patience with DD when she could not understand something taught. She saw DD’s determination and encouraged her. DD scored an A and is now 14.
Having the confidence in Mrs Lee, DS was introduced to the Centre. DS started with Mrs Lee at P4. Though DS was quick with his understanding of some concepts, he would throw in the towel very easily without even giving himself a chance to try. DS would just block his mind with the fact that he cannot do it the moment he couldn’t understand or solve challenging questions. There will be moments of emotional frustration too. I must say it is not an easy task to teach a student like this. However, Mrs Lee just continued to patiently explained to DS till he understood (with her trademark straight face, as commented by DS:)) and encouraged him. DS scored an A in this year’s PSLE.
I am thankful for Mrs Lee’s genuine concern for the students.
* Mrs Lee, if you are reading this, sorry about commenting about your straight-face:) DS always said happily that that is how Mrs Lee is and despite her straight-face, she is always patient and concern for the students. Thank you for your prayers too.

RE: All About Dyslexia
I have just received this in my email and I am so happy that Lindamood-Bell is finally coming to Singapore to give an introduction.
I just want to share this with any parents, like me, who may be keen to find out more about Lindamood-bell and their ways to help our children.

RE: All About Dyslexia
Hi everyone,
I just realised that there is this thread on all about dyslexia and am so thankful. I have a child who is dyslexic. I just come to understand that there are various methods to help children with dyslexia but am so confused. Which is better? Has anyone heard of Lindamood Bell? Can anyone tell me what is the difference between this method, Orton and Davis? Has anyone tried Lindamood Bell’s method? Thank you. -

RE: St Joseph's Institution Junior
Am very new at this. Not sure if I am doing this right by writing on this thread. We have to register our boy this year and we deciding between SJIJ and Maris Stella. Can anyone share more about SJIJ? Really anxious about which school is good for him. He is rather active and vocal. Not sure which environment would be suitable for him.
