Personally, I’m surprised by the ballot < 1km especially when there are 90 places available… for a single gender. Considering that the partially overlapping SCGS (available 40) is also balloting < 1km, that’s quite a lot of girls < 1km for a low density estate!

Apart from the earlier mentioned Fourth Avenue, are there any new developments that we may not know of?
no need to actually own a unit to be eligible for 1km. Those affluent ones can just rent any existing units within 1km to be eligible there.

      Yes.
Given that NYPS and SCGS are within reach for some in the 2km radius, I don't think RGPS would be the top priority for this group (GRL). It may attract those further away, but those further away will also have other options to consider.
Hence, my suggestion that ~40 is probably the max in that phase.

      If you work the math,
      210 - 89 = 121 places for Phase 2A
121 - expected 50 = 71 places to be added to the pool for Phase 2B and 2C
      (71 / 3) + 20 = 44 places for Phase 2B

Which would just about meet the ~40 demand.
2A1+2A2 has been around 60-70 in the past 3 years. This may result in ballot of 2B

      RGPS?

2B will be safe as you are unlikely to have more than 20 that meet the phase conditions. <= Last year 2B intake was almost 40 and it was rising trend from the previous years. I understand that 20 seats are for school recruited PV (correct me if im wrong) and the rest is GRL so a bit unknown for total number of GRL. 🤷

2A will probably be 1-2km <= Will ballot from 2A already? oh my... :gloomy: :gloomy: :gloomy:

      Hi,
I just aware from the MOE website, the number of applied in Phase 1 - Day 1 for Raffles Girls' Primary is 89, compared to last year number 64, there is a 25 applied increase in Phase 1 and the leftover to Phase 2A, Phase 2B and Phase 2C will be decreased. There will be more keen competition for in Phase 2C. I don't know whether we still can conclude those stay less than 1km could escape from balloting in Phase2C. Have to observe the number of applied in Phase 2A and Phase 2B later. Correct me if the above assumption is incorrect. Thank you.[/quote]
This is surprisingly high...tough fight for >2km...may start to ballot from 2B :gloomy:

Firstly, you need to stay within 2 km from SNGS to be able to eligible to apply SNGS under GRL of 2B. Since the school is so popular, you need to be 1km to have a chance to get in so phase 2B within 1km. You may need to check with the GRC zone near SNGS that you aim to apply whether there are available slots for Executives Members (EM) at the time you want to apply. I heard some matured estates are full most of the time and what you can do is Q as an observer and once got slot, they may promote you to EM. Only EM is eligible for Phase 2B. How long is the duration to serve as observer? uncertain, depends on each GRC zone. So work out your timeline well and plan much ahead.

      Hi experts,
May I know how much time do you need to devote in the 2 years timeline of becoming EM-executive members? Are those time specifically on weekends only?

      Appreciate experts' advice on this.
based on our experience, its not specific to be weekend only. It depends on as and when they need help they will ask for members'/observers' help. But each GRC/Zone, the level of activities may be different. So best is to check with your CC/PA staff of your zone.

Hello! If I’m working as GRL in Holland-Bukit Timah cashew division, can I try phase 2B for schools under other divisions? Or even schools under other GRC?

      https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holland%E2%80%93Bukit_Timah_Group_Representation_Constituency
The new rule is, you can only choose the school within 2km from your home address regardless of which GRC you serve. So if your house address is under Holland Bukit Timah GRC but your target school is not under HBT GRC but within 2km, you can register under P2B.

if you are a GRL, your CM would have emailed you every late April since you joined as a grassroot volunteer.
The info would be in that email.

you can see all the schools in your constituency PLUS the schools in other constituencies.

If you are not a GRL, then you can ask someone who is a GRL for that info.
sorry for tagging along, do you know whether under registration of Phase 2B, when we log in P1-IS form, do we see just the schools we are eligible to or all schools available?

I did some quick calculation as in the above. Barring any mistake on my part, it appears that from 2013 onwards, you should be quite safe in Phase 2B from balloting.

      Good luck!
      Thank you :xedfingers:

Distance would matter for Phase 2B in case there is a ballotin situation. For Raffles Girls', however, the only time people needed to ballot in Phase 2B was in 2011, for those staying outside of 2km. So I guess it's just a formality for you to report where you stay, just in case.

Even with the reduction of 20 places in Phase 2A, it is very unlikely this would impact Phase 2B. You should be safe no matter where you live in Singapore for Phase 2B 🙂
Thanks for your analysis. How about the change in allocation ratio of the remaining seats after 2A from 50:50 P2B:P2C become 1/3:2/3 for P2B:P2C. Will that affect your forecast? a bit worried about this change though 😓
