I know the PSLE posting results are over. But I’d just like to share for the benefit of students or parents of students taking PSLE this year.
Im from Ngee Ann Sec, and they FROWN upon BGR to a HUGE extent to the point of calling the police. This has the adverse effect of forcing the BGR to be ‘underground’. SO, actually there is lesser BGR and MORE annoyed students.
But the school is good in the sense that it has a very strong financial backing in the form of Ngee Ann Kongsi organisation so it can offer better quality and a wider variety of pragrammes for its students. Also, the facilities of the school are quite remarkable as it was newly upgraded 2 years ago.
The culture is also quite apparent, where you will see students studying at any given time. But its far from a mugger school. It has been trying to establish a more artistic culture by providing students an outlet to showcase their talents. But this venture went on for awhile and was not revived again.
On the whole, NAS is a good school, but it comes down very hard on BGR and ‘naughty’ students

RE: Debate CCA
Hi, how old are u?
Yes! I formed the debate CCA in my school and debate is a really, really great CCA. You should join it!
But be prepared to spend many, many hours on this CCA. Ur grades might even slip a little. I know mine did
But in the end it was worth it cuz my team won the champions
heheh just my two cents worth -

I am encouraged by young people like you who humbly seek the advice of others in planning for your future. Yes, if you are aiming for a scholarship, 4H2 is the way to go. With careful selection of subjects and hard diligence, you can do well for the 'A' levels. Remember too that the organisations are looking for someone who has embraced a holistic education so you need to work on your CCA and develop your leadership qualities. All the best!Saza:
Ah I see. Okay, but as I have taken higher mother tongue for o levels and got a distinction for it, I need not take it again for a levels.
Yes I think I've decided to take biology either because I cannot do chemistry nor physics and my bio isn't very strong.
Actually the reason I want to take 4H2 is because it would increase my chances of getting a scholarship. A 3H2 and 1H1 would stand a smaller chance. Correct me if I'm wrong
Thank you! Actually, I would really love to get a scholarship to study overseas. I'm interested to get a degree in either law or psychology. Any relevant scholarships or universities which I can take a closer look? Thanks again

RE: All About A Levels
Oh i see. Thanks all for the contributions. I think I have decided to not take KI anymore an take 4H2 instead.
So, I was wondering, since I have not taken English Literature in secondary school, would it be a very big and difficult transition if I were to take it in JC?
Also, I would like to find out if H2 Biology is very difficult, because even though I got b3 for Bio in the O levels, Im quite interested in it.
Thanks again! Cheers

RE: All About A Levels
Hi parents!
I just received my O level results today, and I got 12 points. After deduction of CCA and HMT, its 8 points.
Im considering MJC, but it doesn't have Knowledge and Inquiry (KI) which is a subject I really, really want to do. Is there a way to take KI outside school? I got a1 for English so I think it'll be alright. Also, is KI not recognised by some prestigous universities overseas?
I also considered NYJC, which has KI, but it does not have a debate team and its very far from my home in the East. I already made up my mind to join debate in JC though. What is NYJC's culture? Is it similar to MJC?
I'm wondering if I should even bother appealing into VJC? Would they look into CCA achievements as well?
My results are as follows:
English-A1
Combined Humanities (SS&E.HIS) - A2
Pure Geography - A2
Mathematics - A2
A.Maths - B3
Chemistry - C5
Biology - B3
HML - A2
Malay - A2
Also, can u advise me on this subject combination which I'm keen on taking.
H2 Geog, H2 Econs, H2 Maths, KI, PW, MTL
Is it too heavy?
Thank you so so much for your help!!!

Application to JCs
I am a 16 yr old student, taking o lvl this year.
My humanities are much stronger than my science and mathematics. So, Im confirmed going to the arts stream in a JC. But, which JC would you say has a good arts programme (I live in the East)
Also, to those who have DSA-ed before, what are some of the requirements for DSA through debate into a JC. Like what stuff do they look out for?
THANKS
