LKC needs a good BMAT scores... so not surprised that many of those high achievers are from RI, HCI. LKC dean also said most of their students are straight As students. LKC is affiliated to Imperial. So I bet Imperial has a say on the type of students that they want. In fact, I heard some of the interviewers were from Imperial. So typically, Imperial London takes in the very top academic students in London, so probably similar criterias here.

Anyone with 5* can put in an application to NUS but not to LKC. So that kind of explains why LKC has more than 40% from RI and 20% from HCI. Not so much that the school favours RI, HCI students but rather their BMAT selection criterias seek them out. Of course, there are also those with very high BMAT who did not get LKC. They probably didn't perform well at the interviews or other aspects of their criterias do not meet what LKC is looking for.[/quote]
8As in RI and HCL are not rare, but get 5As in such environment is. and most probably his/her IQ and ability to overcome difficulty and learn is much more than 8As.

From your earlier post info, has your DS accepted Biomedical Sciences and BioBusiness in NTU while still in waitlist from NTU Medicine?
I got info from my DD few years back, she applied NUS medicine and went through interview, after long waiting, she was finally offered the Second choice course other than Medicine, it imply she was no longer in NUS Medicine waitlist.

My sensing is that besides favouring non-RI/ HCI Jcs, YLL is looking for a certain kind of personality, ie those who will make good General Practitioners eg those who are relaxed/ cheerful and can connect well with people and not so much the academic types. As for LKC, I am surprised that those with high BMATs were not offered a place. It could be that their MMI did not go well.

There were only 2 stations this year for YLL. No SJT. One station to talk about yourself and another ethnic station. I honestly do not see how that single interviewer could sieve out the personality and motivation of a student based on a less than 10 mins interview. LKC has 5 stations this year with 5 interviewers. Very fast moving and much more challenging than YLL. Bmat is not merely an academic test. It tests the natural abilities of the kids too.

Yup, quite a few very impressive RI kids with straight As, h3 distinctions, high Bmat, impressive cca leaderships, research, olympaid winners, did not get any offer this year. They have very nice personalities too. Think they took up other scholarships in the end. I am sure these other scholarship interviews also look for excellent personalities and leadership qualities... That's why I said, all tee kiam tee kiam ... Selection committee has the final say and u do not know what they look out for.

This years interviews are via the Camera and not human face to face, this set up was throughout the whole interview period even during NUS first few days onsite interview, so probably the interview process was prepared to be recorded. Although the interviews were done on only 2 stations, but the selection process could be based on many professionals judgement, possibly involve AI.
And some more, to be a good medical doctor does not means it is necessary need top academic quality student, Top CCA leadships. it is more on personality such as Compassion.....

In that case, meaning your son ain’t really filling up any LKC spot for this year. Technically speaking it’s a positive news for the fellow folks with kids queuing in the waiting list.

In this case, not sure how NTU will decide.
If NTU pass this quota to the next waitlist queuer, imagine if the next N Queuers are all male and they all decide not to disrupt NS, does NTU has to reserve the place for all of them in the following year?

My son is on NTU waitlist. He's prepared for whatever the outcome. I am the only \"Kan Cheong (Nervous)\" Parent rather then a Kiasu Parent right this moment. Haven't received any notification yet.

My DS is on NTU waitlist and he got offer, and this offer is only expire on 30-Jun, but he prefer NUS. so theoretically there is still vacancy not fully filled.

On first phase selection ( 24-May), he accepted NUS Medicine.

My DS just informed me today he got the NS Disruption letter, he is on NS BMT Feb batch.

And he today also received Email from NTU get his waitlist converted to acceptance offer.

For waitlist of NUS/NTU medical student, you need to wait patiently, it could take very long time. Because there is NS disruption factor for boys.

This year, due to Covid-19, the NS Enlistment dates for some batches were delayed, My DS is on February Batch and he has not received any information about NS disruption. Before settle all the NS disruption matters, the hope for waitlist are going to stay.
