Sue and Dan had some savings each. If Sue gave Dan $80, both would have an equal amount of savings. If Dan gave Sue $80, Sue would have 3 times as much savings as Dan.

      A) How much did Sue have at first ?
      B) What fraction of his money did Dan give away if he gives Sue $80 ?

Mrs Ang bought some apples and Mrs Beh bought some oranges. Mrs Ang gave half of her apples to Mrs Beh and Mrs Beh gave half of her oranges to Mrs Ang. Both Mrs Ang and Mrs Beh each ended up with 16 fruits. Mrs Ang has 1/3 as many apples as oranges. Find the number of apples that Mrs Ang bought and the number of oranges that Mrs Beh bought.

      Hi Shimmer,

      Let's try; one possible method:

(Both Mrs Ang and Mrs Beh each ended up with 16 fruits.
Mrs Ang has 1/3 as many apples as oranges)

Mrs Ang has 4 apples and 12 oranges.

      Ans:
      Mrs Ang bought 8 apples
      Mrs Beh bought 24 oranges

      Hope this helps

      Cheers
