do I need to take my child (P5) to school on open house dates? or I can just visit the schools myself. I wonder if teachers will accept student resume on site.

By P5-6, they should be ready to visit. Afterall, they should want the school in order to strive to go in n enjoy the next 4/6 years.
Usually open house don't receive DSA application.

You should visit this year

1. to understand the schools better and plan ahead.
2. Motivation for him to work on
3. Some schools have date clash. So you definitely need at least 2 years to visit all that you are interested.

Hello there. Firstly, I am not a parent and currently a sec 4 Express student in a mainstream school. (My apologies) I recently read about SOTA and I'm considering whether to register for the SOTA Direct School Admission – Junior College (DSA-JC) Exercise. I've taken Art electives and core subjects in school. I have a few achievements in Arts ; winning in national art competition. However, I am weak in subjects like Mathematics and Science. And my academic reports is needed for the auditions. I'd like to seek advice from experienced parents. I am also wondering whether they will look into my olevel results and decide whether I can join them in year 5 the following year.

As you are aware, CCA is not organised for students due to committment & timetabling to practise art form in the school.

For those of us parents who had been through the CCA baptism of fire and understand the value of it, you may wish to consider the Scouts open group that my child is in. It is affiliated to the Singapore Scouts Association and is organised by parents. This unit is an extension of our Cub Scouts open group (primary school)

Thanks for the reply pinchmycheeks (cute name ). My daughter has already been shortlisted for the talent academy. So I am looking for some more personal experiences so that I can guide her. Appreciate all the help that we can get.

Oh this is fast. I thought closing date is only on the 20 of May. So does it mean that once you submit the application, they can shortlist you for TA even before 3 June ?

Her child was probably shortlisted before the open call for portfolio submission
Those who go through the 20 May submission round still need to wait for shortlist announcement as stipulated (3 Jun?)
