May I know if anyone received rejection or invitation for interview dsa letter?
Usually not so soon. When my older DS applied, notifications started coming in the first week of the new school term, not during the june holidays. Also depends on which school you applied.

Hi, I have just emailed them. The teacher in charged said they are strict on this criterion only..sadly..If any child ever get in via non platinum feel free to inform us. Thought to apply this sch bec is nearer to home.
Probably cos the number of offers for math domain is very small in ACSI, 1-2 vs 20 in RI, 170 in NUSH.

Yes. This was communicated at the open house as well.

      DSA RI Math

      My child's Math award

      1.RIPMWC  P5 Distinguish

2.RMO P6 Merit (did not do well at trial as too many homework. He did it in the midnight of the last day of deadline)

      3.NMOS P5 Bronze

      4. Numerous ICAS/Reach: Outstanding/ Merit since P3 after passing GEP round 1

P5 School transcript (math1, science 2, English 5, Chinese 5). But he is top 3 in his class

Any chance for RI DSA Math?

      Any suggestion?

      Thank you very much.
Could have a look at the past 1-3 years DSA threads. Quite a number of parents have shared profiles of their kids who successfully DSAed to RI via math domain. Just search keywords RI math.

      Answer qn 1 -

If u are applying for DSA \"Science\" domain, only write those achievement(s) that are RELEVANT & support that domain, in which u are applying for. Therefore, only write down only those Science related achievements, that u have.

If u put all those Maths Olympaid achievements all there, ask yourself :-

Does it help to support your \"Science\" domain, in any way at all ? Answer is \"no\".
What has Maths got to do with Science ?
      Maths is Maths.
      Science is Science.
They are totally 2 different subjects.

The panel of DSA interviewers will just simply ignore all those \"Maths\" acievement(s) that u have written over there.

But if u were to apply for \"Maths\" domain instead of \"Science\" domain,
      then of course,

all these Maths olympiad achievements now become relevant . Clear ?

Ask yourself this basic, fundamental question :-
Which specialized subject domain, am I applying for ?
Am I applying for Maths, or am I
applying for Science ? which one ?

      Answer qn 2 -

For any IP school or Pure Express stream schools like Crescent Girls, Tanjong Katong Girls schools, Bukit Panjang Secondary, Anglican High, etc -

The Cut off point to honor a DSA contract is maximum ... AL 20 points.

      Therefore,
even if u din do well,

say, example : u score AL 20 in the coming actual 2024 October PSLE exam -

all those IP schools that have offered your kid the DSA CO or Waitlist, these IP schools will still need to honour your CO / WL, assuming that u have accepted their CO / WL.
      Remember.
      It is AL ... 20

      CO : confirmed offer
      WL : Wait list

Talking about Wait list, to those who have been offered WL and not CO, assuming that u have accepted the DSA school's WL : when will u know, whether your WL has been successfully converted, or not ?

      Answer is :-

On that very day when u receive your PSLE results slip in November 2024, MOE will inform (notify) you. If your WL is successfully converted, then u cannot take part in S1 posting exercise anymore, because u have already gotten a seat, inside your DSA school.

But if your WL has not been converted,
      then
u can proceed to take part in S1 (Secondary 1) MOE posting.
Respectfully disagree with point 1 - indeed some schools value achievements related only to the talent area, but there are also schools which value all-round achievement (eg showing awards in science, humanities, etc in addition to the talent area shows the child has challenged him/herself over his/her primary school career). Should include other awards to be used as a differentiating factor should there be many candidates who are of a similar profile in that talent domain.

If my p4 child is very keen in this and is not selected by his school. Can I register him for competition with SMOPS as a private candidate?
SMOPS is only for p5 and 6. Schools usually select their top 10 P5 students (there is a cap of 10 P5s per school) and no cap on the number of p6 who can participate.

Thanks for confirming that sec 1s do receive GPA.

Do u think it is sec 1 eoy overall (or maybe just core subjects?) compared to p6 prelims/psle?

      Or ranking within the school?[/quote]
Just a wild guess - my son DSAed into IP in his school; his score for psle happened to be the partial cut off for IP which would put him amongst the lower ranked kids in IP entering the school, based on PSLE results. His school results this year were average or above average in his class. That would explain it?
