Realise that the talent programmes for each subject start in different years?

Oh btw, am I right to say that there won't be subjects like FCE, Music, Digital Literacy etc in upper secondary?

History, maths and sci r all start in y3. According to my child...geo selection will be in y3 itself
We chose triple humanities too.....

Oh nice! Our kids may become classmates if both get the combination successfully! :celebrate:
what subject combi did your child choose?

Hi sky! Interesting... I hadn't thought of whether there'd be priority for special programmes. I'm not very sure actually but will certainly try to find out if I get the chance. Thanks!

I guess they will be given priority if they r in the talent program

Any parents have experience with a triple humanities combination in upper sec? Is it very challenging?...

Hi, I'm just kaypohing, as often... Would your dc be prioritised for special program selections (Hssrp for instance, is she invited to the upcoming month-end symposium? Moot parliament? Literature seminar?), if she takes up triple humans?

Our schools have similar programs, & afaik it is challenging in that the students have to produce numerous papers, of sufficiently high standards, which often require lots of reading up, writing & rewrites. Besides interest, I'd advise my kid to take it up, Only if there is a well-thought out curriculum; an expert mentor (external/ university?) will be guiding; there is accreditation. All the best!!

Yes, some students do go to a separate class during Chinese lessons, although I'm not exactly sure what the differentiating criterion is. Prob their PSLE results for CL (and maybe HCL).

I thk its their T-score cos my child did not take HMT in pri and only got A for chinese for PSLE but she is in the beta chinese class. But of cos she did struggle initially

wat u mean by beta chinese class?
they r split into \"rainbow class\" which is students weaker in chinese and \"better\" class for students stronger in chinese right at the start of the yr
not sure how they split but according to her ...the whole class will be together in S2...those in rainbow class got promoted ...

There's actually some discussion of the allocation to the different Chinese classes here:
https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2887&start=3750

The theory was that students were split according to their CL grade in PSLE.
i thought so and my kid said the whole class got A* for chinese except her
i also not sure y she is in the better class so maybe due to her t-score cos its in the 260+ range

Hi, we are having problems finding suitable IP tuition for our child in sec 2 RV in 2021. Any recommendations?
For Science, Maths, English and HCL.
Thank you!

How do you determine if the child needs tuition at secondary level?

Btw, on a different note, does school start on 11 Jan 2021?

Yes, sch start on 11 Jan. Info is updated in asknlearn
