RE: DSA 2023
I think the concern here is not if the child can cope eventually (which is also questionable as it is dependent on a lot of factors) but more what if the child’s interest in that domain wanes but he has to fulfil his commitment for the FULL 6 years

RE: All About PSLE AL Scoring System
I agree with the comments that as long as IP exists, there will still be differentiation, contradictory to the move to SBB that integrates rather than segregates. That said, as long as an O level stream child is given equal opportunity, within an equal timeframe to reach A levels or IB, as an IP student, I think there is not much difference. My concern is that given the AL scores possibility to change by just 1 or half a mark, I’m afraid the false positives may eventually struggle. Its just a matter of how one performs for that 1 exam on 1 day, not a few check ins to assess the student’s ability, so may swing either way.
Seeking some clarification, how is the AL system better for the all rounders? Eg if someone scores 8, 1,1,1 compared to someone scoring 3,3,3,2… AL same but I’m guessing T scores very different? Also how is it that choice matters only now? Hasn’t choice order always been important? -

Hi parents, another way to explain the process:
On the 1st selection day, only AL4 students can come out of their house. At 9am, only singaporean will report to their 1st choice school. They will stand outside the school gates. Each school will check whether its has enough space to let in all Singaporean at its gate. Any schools that has enough space, it will let in all Singaporean at its gate. Those schools that do not have enough space to let in all Singaporean at its gate, all Singaporean at its gate will ballot, to get in. Those student that are left standing outside the gates , will report to their 2nd choice school.
They will stand outside the gates again. Each school will again check whether it has enough space to let in all Singaporean at its gate. If have , all Singaporean will get in. Those schools don’t not have enough space to let in all Singaporean at its gate, all Singaporean at its gate will ballet to get in. Those students still left outside the school, will report to their 3rd choice school. The same letting in process repeat again. Until all Singaporean entered a school.
In the afternoon, only PR student will report to their 1st choice school. And go through same letting in process as the Singaporean in the morning session. Until all PR students enter a school.
At night , only foreigner students will go report to their 1st choice school. And go through the same letting in process as the Singaporean and PR students. Until all foreigner students enter a school.
Come the next day. Only AL5 students will come out of their house. At 9am, only Singaporean report to their 1st school. And go through same process as the Singaporean in previous day.
In the afternoon, only PR students will come out and report to their 1st choice schools. And go through the same process as the PR in the previous day.
At night only foreigner students will come out of their house and report to their 1 choice school. And go through same process as the foreigner in the previous day.
On next day, same process for all students in AL 6 group. And next day , for all students in AL 7 groups. Repeat daily until all students get into a school.
Good explanation! Also serves to explain why it takes approx a month to release posting results… 29 possible ALs, 1AL a day… haha -

Is there any approximate \"conversion formula\" between T score and AL?
your Psle raw score will determine your AL score
