Sorry to disturb this thread, judging from the previous posts, if there's anyone who knows how NUS theatre studies really is, can you please pm me? I've been searching for people to consult on this major, but found nobody from my seniors

RE: How many hours should a JC student study?
I hope someone sees this… Are sleep cycles really helpful when you just simply have no choice but less than 5 hours available for sleep? I haven’t tried it out yet and I’m curious if anybody has.

Well, IMO, opting out will at least cause the teen to miss out great memories with her friends. The KL trip is an excellent opportunity for the teen to learn to be independent (if he or she hasn't learnt yet) , w/o family to take care of the teen. Notice I use the term 'teen', and teenage years are important years of anyone's life I guarantee you. During the trip the teen has to manage her activities and be responsible for all her actions (with teachers' supervision of course). On the fun side the teen gets to play crazy with his/her friends cos duh, that's part of what teens do at 13/14 yrs old. The parent got to respect and let the teen decide too. I can only say that it will be a real shame to opt out.In view of the unfortunate event at Sabah, I would like to inform all interested parents that in NJC, year 2 students are required to go overseas (this year Kuala Lumpur - by bus) as part of the Integrated Humanities curriculum.
I remembered signing a consent form, but cant say for sure whether opting out will mean the child miss out on any learning experiences. -

I was just voicing out my opinion on what I think the bolded quote meant previously on other JCs with affiliates, not actually trying to define affiliates... In fact I don't know too what do the \"affiliates\" actually mean. Anyway thanks for the chunk of info really very helpful
Correction, made !sky12_:
Hi there, just to voice out my opinion
NJ does not have affiliates, unlike say RJC with RI & RGS. NJ's IP cohorts themselves also do not have affiliates to any primary schools, so when the IP cohorts go to SH1 they already identify themselves as NJCians, hence no segregation of secondary schools.
may I ask : what affliates, are you refering To, in RJC ?
Where do these affliates in RJC that u mention, come from ?
Where do affliates from RI, come from ?
Where do affliates from RGS, come from ?
They are affliates, from which primary school ?
RI do not have any affliates.
Likewise, RGS also do not have any affliates.
Why ?
because RGPS primary school is not affliated to RGS Secondary school.
So, where & how do the affliates, come in ?
The cut off point to enter RGS Secondary school was 258, last year (2014), entirely based on merit, if enter by Phase 2 (T-score). Phase 1 is by DSA.
To Enter RGS, there are only 2 ways :
either by DSA, or by the child's own ability to meet the entrance Cut off point. No discount given whatsoever, meaning : no affliate, whatsoever.
The same apply to RI, too.
There are Total 8 \"A\" level IP Junior Colleges, in Sg.
Out of these 8 : seven of them do not accept any affliate, at all.
These 7 IP JCs, that do not accept any affliate, include :-
- Raffles Institution
- Hwa Chong Institute ( for the boys only )
- Victoria JC
- National JC
- Temasek JC
- Dunman High
- River Valley High
- new joint JC (from Catholic High, Scgs, St Nicholas)
new Joint JC have pupils studying in (Catholic High, Scgs, St Nicholas) primary schools.
Yes, these 3 Secondary schools take in affliated primary school students, but only for their \"O\" level.
But now, we are talking About affliates to the \"A\" level, not to \"O\" level.
Yes, there is only & only one Junior college (Hwa Chong) in the entire Sg, that take in affliated NYPS primary school girls into Nanyang Girls High for \"A\" level IP program, & from there into Y5 / Y6 HCI.
So, next time, if want to mention affliated JC, correct answer is :
Nanyang Girls High : because NYGH only offer \"A\" level, no \"O\" level in this school.
Definitely Not RI.
definitely not any of the other seven \"A\" level IP JCs, listed above.
No affliates at all, in any these 7 IP JCs.
All enter by merit, based On Ability to meet Cut Off point, not by discount method for NYGH.

Er...affiliates? Donch they have one whole lot moving in automatically thru IP?
Hi there, just to voice out my opinionjetsetter:
yea, actually i'm kinda stuck between Andersons,Nanyang and National JC,but njc has always been my ideal sch so yeah haha

Go for NJC if your dream school's just 30-40min away.
You won't regret it. Looks good on resume. Think long term. NJC not so \"cliquish\" like other JCs with affiliates.
NJ does not have affiliates, unlike say RJC with RI & RGS. NJ's IP cohorts themselves also do not have affiliates to any primary schools, so when the IP cohorts go to SH1 they already identify themselves as NJCians, hence no segregation of secondary schools.

50rounds equate to abt 20km :rotflmao:sky12_:
No, this thursday is not sports day. In fact the JH1-4 students have to come to sch early at 7.40am to join in the college's Go50 celebrations. Students can sign up to run/jog/walk to accumulate 50 rounds around NJ track.
My elder boy told me it is 50 man rounds, not one student runs 50 rounds on his own :rotflmao: which I initially thought so. -

RE: Niche Programs/Courses offered by local Uni
Hello, I would like to hear opinions on both NTU communication studies and NUS communications and new media. I have been having a hard time deciding which one to aim for. Any info about these 2 are welcomed
