Hi there! I tried to join with the link but it's not working. Is there a WA group already for parents of S1? Even better by individual classes since class allocation is already out on PG. :thankyou:

RE: Admiralty Primary
Hello there parents and soon-to-be parents of ADMPS student ,
Just like to share that ADMPS is a great school
In the north and my two DDs benefitted from studying there
They truly enjoyed themselves and the programs are great. It is a neighbourhood school but a very good onwith high standards and good caring teachers. My DDs went through two Principals and they are both great - encouraging, hands-on and always implementing new initiatives in the school. Teachers are giving out extra lessons during exams period and sometimes late in the evening. They just want to make sure that the students are well prepared and will do their best. Happy to answer questions about the school either here or via PM. :celebrate: -
RE: DSA 2021
Thank you so much for your insights and comments Imp75, SWC, rosecy and lego! I let DD read your comments and now she is more reassured and so have I. Truly the most important thing the child need to bring with them to Sec school is the right attitude and be willing to work hard. We see now the challenges but also the opportunities it opens up to. It is good to know that the support is there at NYGH (and also here at KSP!
) and my hope is that with the right environment and a SAP culture, she will do well in her MT in time.... :celebrate:

Thank you Imp75! OMG! A* and D in HMT is excellent! How were they \"not great\" in HCL?!! :udawoman: If DD is getting a merit in HCL I would be more than happy and would
Congrats!! My 3 girls went to NYGH as well and they were not great in HCL (although I must admit they had A* in CL and distinction in HCL in PSLE) but generally their standard of chinese is worse than mine. It was really very meh and they don't speak the language at all even at school. Somehow without tuition, they manage to survive HCL. And I heard there is great support for girls who need help in the subject so you do not need to worry. If HCL is really challenging, the sch will identify these girls and prep them for O level CL instead (ie these girls will take CL instead of HCL) from sec 3 onwards (note they are still in the IP stream). So I don't think HCL should be a great concern.soursop\" post_id=\"2037916\" time=\"1631587124\" user_id=\"8916:
Hello KSP Mentors and Masters!
Congrats to all who receive CO and WL! :rahrah: My DD received CO for NYGH which was a surprise to us really. Yes ! yes! we are definitely ecstatically happy about the offer but on the other hand we are worried about how academically challenging NYGH is. You see, DD is not great in her MT and barely surviving HMT (fail/pass type). Can anyone shed light on how NYGH MT program is like? Would they dedicate time and effort to those poorer in the language or would they zoom away as most kids there I assume are all very good in their MT. Has any parent's DD gone to NYGH with poor MT but manage to survive and even thrive in the language? We have heard that NYGH is a caring school with caring teachers and won't leave students behind but then again we are worried and don't want to put her in an environment that is so challenging and set her up for failure. DD is conscientious, hardworking and independent but just not good at MT and somehow not interested in it. Thanks everyone and good luck for the upcoming PSLE! Only 2 weeks away!
from joy!!!.
Thanks for explaining about the OL CL at NYGH. I didn't know they had a class just for students that are doing poorly in HMT and still maintain their position in the IP program. I know they have one OL class but I had though it was across subjects ie, once demoted then they have to take the OL exams for all subjects. If the student does take the CL as OL, does that mean that she needs to do another year of CL in JC which in this case mean JC1 at HCI? It is so exciting times for us and so many questions too!!

RE: River Valley High School [*IP]
Dear parents of RV,
Many thanks for this informative thread. My DD would like to try DSA dance into RV. Are there any parents here who successfully DSA their DD via dance? Can you share how the audition is done? Do we have to prepare a piece or are the students required to dance a given routine on the spot? We are worried as we do not know how to choreograph a dance routine. Much appreciated your insights! -
RE: DSA for JC/University
Thanks K-Mum. I suppose no harm trying. So the interview could be the deciding factor here. Thanks again for your views. Much appreciated.

RE: DSA for JC/University
Thank you K-Mum. Can you share the profile of students that these school look for for Leadership DSA? My DD is Chairman of her CCA and Exco prefect lead for School Welfare. Done community services and volunteer at several charities. But some no certs given. Wondering if these are enough?
