      * How much does NUS double degree cost and what is the duration like? Either I am searching in wrong places or I still struggle to understand....
      * What are the scholarship options out there? We want to educate ourselves so that we are there to guide. Are there any watch outs based on one's experience? Eg. I wonder at bonds and if this is the right area dc should move into.
      * Any other past learnings / watch outs is appreciated!
Hi, my ds has also just gotten his A levels results.

He came back with a bag of brochures & booklets, which was dumped aside. he's in NS now. I went through the bag & saw a booklet on available scholarships & one from brightsparks which contains all the necessary info you are asking. Do check with your dc.

Otherwise, you can also source for more info on reddit or digital senior - https://digitalsenior.sg/

      Good luck!

If taking video of woman showering merely slapped a $2000 fine, then something is wrong and it is time to review and update the system. Jmo.

From the police and AGC's point of view, a conditional warning in lieu of prosecution for a $1,000-$2,000 fine is not inappropriate. Contrary to what people are claiming, jail would actually be out of the norm.
This is different from what I've come across : https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/nus-peeping-tom-case-lawyers-say-warning-appears-unusual-but-mitigating-factors-need-not

\"The criminal lawyers noted that it is uncommon for even a first-time offender to be let off with just a conditional warning for a sexual voyeurism offence, which would come under the Penal Code's Section 509, which criminalises words or gestures intended to \"insult the modesty\" of women.

Mr Josephus Tan, founder of Invictus Law Corporation, said: \"A first-time offender for Section 509 Penal Code offence should generally be looking at a sentence of two to four weeks in jail per charge. This NUS case seems unusual as he was let off with a conditional stern warning without going through the judicial process at the first instance.

\"Ultimately, the sentence imposed by courts varies from a fine to jail term to probation, but in the last few years jail has been the norm for such cases.

Mr Tan added: \"Regardless of the sentence to be imposed, it would be appropriate for the offender in this case to be dealt with by our courts and a conditional stern warning could then be contemplated by the prosecution thereafter based on mitigating factors.

\"A conditional stern warning is seen as a slap on the wrist in our criminal justice system.\"\"

I really do NOT hope that the male student would go to jail. However, given the grave nature of his action, the manner in which such incidents are handled must change so that our young girls (not all girls are like Monica!) feel assured & safe. It is too bad that he is the one to set precedence for change but this is all for the greater good of the society.

I don't know if it will help if he had come out to sincerely apologise for the incident & ask for forgiveness from victim in public?

The internet is a scary place. What is online is there forever....

I must also add that I feel for his parents.

So what if he is a university grad? It is how you contribute to society that counts. Academic achievements should not be a key consideration in the outcome imo. As what Josephus Tan, the lawyer, commented, I do agree with him that the culprit should be prosecuted in court and judged. If case is handled in court, it may have better outcome.

      I agree with Dreamaurora.

He is an adult. I find it hard to justify by a moment of folly argument or he has a bright future ahead, etc. For those who never get the chance to study in an institute of higher learning (which ironically supposed to equip better thinking skills), how can the consequence of their actions be different?

I just googled & found that the conditional warning given by police is not the norm for such cases.

Just curious, if he had committed the same offence in a public place like a swimming pool, will he be given similar sentence or will he definitely end up in jail?

    • RE: do army shops provide value for money

I was looking high and low for a shop to repair my son’s torn deuter bag and finally found it there! Well sewn and so cheap ($6 or $8 only if I recall correctly) vs buying a new deuter bag! I am really thankful for these shops!

    • RE: Rental questions

Oh, sorry, I may have misread your posting. All I know is my condo has a high percentage of Japanese living there. River valley used to be popular with Japanese but now there have been so many new developments. So, it may have changed.

I had an offer that starts a few days after my lease ends. But it was way below my asking so I turned it down. Then I decided to do some repainting and change curtains, covers, etc (which are due anyway). I have been doing this long enough to have a feel of the rental price I can get. In fact, no one, not even agents themselves, knows how high the rental can go (low is easy for sure!). So, many will market based on ura stats which is average agent-marketed properties imo. Many agents have indeed told me that I'm unrealistic. I was even contemplating lowering my asking vs opportunity cost of waiting. Then my present tenant came and offered my asking rent. Maybe, it's just luck. But for me, getting to know as many agents with direct tenants that fit my tenant profile and maintaining contact with them is crucial to securing good rentals. This is just my view and experience.

Hope it wil be a good period for you now that all festivities are over. πŸ˜„
