my friend score 222 and appealed for Yishun Town Secondary School(COP of 235)she does not have any talent and does not have a CCA. she went for an interview three days ago and the principal says that if there is vancacy,he will give it to her and she says that she is confident of entering that school. She then asked me whether she could enter that school..As i am not sure, can i ask u guys? (Sorry for my terrible english)

Sorry, but this is a bit like what do you think will be the first prize number for this weekend????

I think if your friend have went thru the interview and received comments directly from the school, then he/she should be in best position to discern.

Of course the result is kind of far from the COP. In any case, good luck.

My child store 230 and we appeal for Yishun Town too. We want through the interview too and just almost giving up hope... 😞 , then at ~1pm today, we received a call from YTSS that my child is accepted... 😄 , what a relief 😄 ; after 9 days of stress and worried, finally it is over and we will be busy preparing for the new school for the next few days.

Hi,

Anybody know does the HMT bonus point is applicable to non SAP school?

What I mean is, my child is offer a SAP school and if I choose a non SAP school, will the HMT bonus point be added to her T-score.

Thanks!!

no. hmt bonus only for sap schs.

If so, why forumers were talking about T-score + HMT bonus point when they do the selection and I noticed some of the schools are not SAP schools.

That's confused me and that's why I asked.

Honestly, this is the first time I have encounter this type of incidence.

I have attended several activities in the school hall in the past when my eldest and second daughter are in SPS; but have never encounter this. I was shock too as I was just setting diagionally ~ 3 rows behind.
Are people more stress up? I dun know…

The class that I am in (4C) was ok, everything goes very smoothly… everyone busy filling up the forms and queuing up to submit the forms.

As for the grouping, is this is the norm that the child is not group according to their class? I am not quite sure… lol… is almost 6 yrs ago when my second daughter is in P1, but I think I remember that my elderest and second daughter class is made know at that time.

We too, asked the teacher and their answer is the same.

Btw, for my two daughters, their are under the first principal. The current principal joined as vice principal in 2004, if I remember correctly. So the whether is a nom, under this principal… I could not tell.

Could not advice much.

Hi Spring722

I do agree w u, n happy abt ur girl doing well in her sec school. Parental support is also very important for a child's learning journey, n not just how gd a school is. All the best for ur child's coming PSLE results.
Hi ellehcim,
Thanks.
I just have a reviewed with her on her final results today (though last week, she has already tell me what she scored for each subject)... listening to her own assessment of area of weaking for each subjects before giving her my own view; cause I want her to be independent and able to conduct own's reflection and this will be good for anything that she do in future; whether is study or problem face in life.

Since Primary School, I have make it a point to sit together with her for an hour or so, analysing together on her area of weakness and strength; listen to her view and suggestion on how to improve before giving her my view.

There is quite a limitation for working parents to put in time to guide a child on study and I have 3 childrens... have to divide the time by 3 (lol).

Not all child can do that; different child has different personality and character; my second daughter is quite different from the eldest... more intelligent but 'difficult to teach'... though I can see a slight change (more serious and pay more attention to her study) this year.
I try to do the same analysis with her after each examination but did not get as good outcome as the eldest.
I always think, this may have to do with our character... may be too similar..lol... cause we are both Aries and both are born on the year of tiger...lol. Like poles opposed... (lol)

Next will be my third child... a boy...P1 next year...hmm.. again different for the two girls...must think of other more suitable ways to guide him.

Strange.
Are you \"rains\" or \"WS1234567\"? Do you have duo account?
I am puzzle. :scratchhead:

Rains is my wife's account. 😄

hi, if you or your wife have been a teacher, then I believe you should be sensible enough on what can and cannot be said in situations. i feel that you are making a very unfair statement to the school. Yes, you could have left the school due to some unhappiness there but you should not tarnish the school's name by posting such in the forum and scare parents who are sending their kids to the school. What makes you think that the teaching are of a lower standard? I do have kids in the school now and i've compared their teaching and materials from other school, and they are not inferior to others. In fact, i find that they had included alot more than other schools. If the school is teaching of a lower standard, how to explain about their standards in PSLE in which they are improving each year? By luck only???? it takes a long way for a school to nurture the kids... all schools are doing their very part in nurturing the kids. it could only be some black sheep in some situation.

So where are you teaching now? I'm concerned about this school's name too. Not sure what you are going to say about it once you had left.
I have two daughters in SPS too, one is in Sec 3 and the other has just taken her PSLE. My younger son will be in SPS next years.
I can say much as all my 3 kids are in SPS and there is no comparsion. But so far I have no any negative feedback on SPS as I believe, whether a child do well is not fully depends on just the school; guidance and motivation from parents are also ias mportant.
My eldest daughter's PSLE point could just managed to get her in Ahmand Ibrahim (lowest end of the take in point).
Through motivation and guidance; and her understanding of her own weakness, she work harder then other kids, strives for better result in each exam after another. For the past 3 years, she is in the top 10 in standard. She even got 1st in standard during Sec 2. Though AI is just an average school but I am already pround of her.

I used to teach there. you don't wantto know what kind of teachers and ex-colleagues I used to have. Basically, I'm glad I left the school. Super low standard. They've lost lots of good teachers in past few years. Go guess why the rest stayed. I'm being super objective when I say this. Good luck to your child.

For the ignorant parents who do not know much abt SPS, all I can tell u is time will tell. The teaching there is of a low standard. Very little resources. If you want your kids to excel then it's not the right school. If you want them just to go to any sec school and be happy kids with no stress then it's the right school.

Hi, do you have kid in SPS? Like to share your bad experience?

Thanks.
Hi all,

I'm very new here. I sending my gal SPS. next year. being a kiasu parent, I also enrol my gal in the BASC in the school.

Will like to get to know more parent in SPS. and to link up with them. Thanks

I'm new too. My boy will be in SPS P1 next year. Have also register him in the BASC in the school.

Does anyone send your kid to BASC early (like Dec) for them to familiarize?
I am not sure whether to do or not; reason is my kid has not been in child care and if I send him early in Dec, most of the children will existing P1 to P6 and not sure whether this will make it worst.
If there are more parent sending in child who will be P1 next yr, then at least they are of the same age and get alone better.
Just my though.

I think if your child has not been in Childcare type of environment, it may be better for the child to go for a week or so to get use to it.
During the school holidays, the BASC will organize extra activities. You may want to check with the BASC in charge for the timing.
My child has been taken care by my mother-in-law when young and when he move to K2, he is being taken care by my sister.
I have checked with the BASC, but will wait till Dec come, before deciding, if there is more P1 parent doing that, I will definite do it.
