      Juz some common statistical analysis and discussions done here,
      Nothing sort of serious comparisons....... πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‚
      Isnt it rather common ( even in other forums) during this period
      when the A levels results are juz fresh fr the oven, juz like those hot period after psle??

      Some degrees of comparison is good, will strive to do better πŸ˜‰

      Ahmad and Halim together took 5 days to paint their house. If Ahmad and Halim work together for 2 days, followed by Ahmad working alone for 8 days, Halim will take 1 more day to complete the remaining work. How long will Ahmad take to apint the house all by himself?

      Hi

      This question touches on β€œRates”.

      There is more than one way to solve it.

      One possible solution is:

      When Ahamd and Halim work together, they can paint their house in 5 days.
      In 1 day, they can paint 1/5 of their house or 1 unit.

      Hence, 1 day of Ahmad + 1 day of Halim ----- 1 unit

      In 2 days, they can paint 2/5(2 units) of their house, this means 3/5(3 units) of their house is left unpainted.

      8 days of Ahmad + 1 day of Halim ----- 3 units
      1 day of Ahmad + 1 day of Halim ----- 1 unit

      Therefore, 7 days of Ahmad ----- 2 units
      17.5 days ----- 5 units(whole house)

      Ahmad took 17.5 days to paint the house all by himself.

      Best wishes

      Firsly, I think do you have a issue with deciding who is the 100%? That is usually on eof the common problem.Maybe you can send me ur solution then I can help u diagnose why u arrive at $740

      Secondly, remember that Ratio, percentage and fraction can be used to solve a problem sum despite the question being a % question.

      Solution (Ratio method) which is what I would usually use for this type of questions.

      A : S
      120 : 100
      6 : 5
      x 2 x 2
      J : A
      100 : 80
      5 : 4
      x 3 x 3

      J : A : S
      15 : 12 : 10

      37 units --> 2220
      1 unit --> 2220 Γ· 37
      --> 60
      12 units --> 60 x 12
      --> $720

      [quote=\"is_me_lblue\"]Hi,

      I am stuck again.

      Amos'salary is 20% more than Steve's but 20% less than Joe's. If their total salary is $2220,find Amos's salary.

      I always get the answer of 740 but answer given is 720.

      Thank you

      Small,

      Thank you, I not so good in math so have to learn together with my son.

      Hi,
