I wish to congratulate those children who have far-sighted parents. I would like to share the below youtube by one of the famous Taiwan professor who promote the reading of Chinese Classics textbooks. You will learn a lot from him. He stressed the importance of memorising Chinese classics books and poems for children below 13. If your kids are above 13, I am regretted to let you know, according to him, it will be too late for such learning.

I guess probably they asked other parents to help and register on behalf? I understand there were teachers marking attendance at the gate and I personally think they will not allow 4 family members to go in. Nevertheless, I am greatly appreciative that the school continue to invite parents to attend such meaningful event. If you check around other nearby schools, i believe not many (or none) of the school actually open up this avenue (it really needs considerable effort in planning, communication and traffic control).

I read from papers that Transport company find it hard to survive as many schools converted to single session. Previously, they are able to fetch schools which have two sessions; morning and afternoon and those in single session. However, now with limited fleet of buses, they can only chose to fetch one school or two schools (if more than one school, usually children will suffer as they will arrange very early timing).

I heard SBS will also be putting one bus stop near WPS, but it seems quite a distance, not directly at WPS. Worst, the location of WPS is between 2 LRT stations. I hope in no time to come, there will be one bus stop in front of the school. In this way, we can forget about the school bus and take public transport instead.

Many of my friends are so envy that we were invited to attend events at the school. We really need to cherish the opportunties we have now. I believe as the school grows with more students and parents, maybe such opportunity will become lesser. We are working parents as well, I also have limited annual leave and I will take leave for event that last 2 or more hours. For those "short lunch events", i do communicate with my boss that i will take slightly longer lunch to attend school’s events and i do compensate by working late that day. Alternatively, I will also ask my child whether he will be performing or participate for that event. If he/she does, I will try my best to attend to render him/her support.

Separately, I would like to ask whether there will be school o 5 Sep? I read the parents letters, it stated September holiday starts on 6 Sep, but just want to re-confirm as I heard there is no school on 5 Sep in some schools.

I am also worried about the traffic condition once the student population increases. The traffic condition to me is quite manageable, although occassionally we do see some parents alighting their kids before the pedestrian crossing. Sometimes, not because they wanted to do, but I guess if you observed carefully there is quite a handful of construction workers taking the pedestrian crossing. There was one time, it caused a little jam before the crossing as the cars were waiting for a huge group of workers taking their time to cross the road. Thereafter, I saw kids starting to get off their cars. Similiarly, this situation will worsen once new residents (across the school) move in next year.

Also, some parents chose to drop and drive off at the main gate because the parking space near the school entrance were occupied with cars. I wonder how the situation will be like next year when we have new batch of P1 & their parents who drive. They will compete for a parking space outside the school. Worst, residents who need to drive in and out of the new blocks. Needless to say, the parents’ cars stopping alongside the road will cause traffic woes.

I would like to suggest, if you need to accompany your kids to the gate, please park further down the road (preferably after the entrance of the new blocks). Please free up the space outside the school entrance for parents who drop and drive off - this will also help to lessen traffic congestion for residents’ vehicle that need to move in and out in future.

Lastly, I really hope the school can re-consider allowing drop/alight within the school compound. It can help to divert traffic to the rear gate (near KJE) to allow smooth flow of traffic. School needs parent co-operation and vice-versa, parents needs school’s support. There is a clear define path for pedestrian (students) walking into the school. There is also a separate path for vehicles. Both don’t intersect with each other. Sadly, we do see they intersect now because drivers will continue to park at their convenience and putting a risk on pedestrian’s safety. Although, it is outside the school compound, but I urge parents and school to work together for the safety and goods of our kids (students).

My kid told me all the stall holders seems to have changed. Some of the food they used to sell were no longer available. Hence, i am not sure whether it helps by refering to the website now.
