If even need to ballot at 2A1, then no need to try 2A2 liao... coz that would mean no places left. Go straight to 2B or 2C.

I thought is half of vacancies reserved for each phase after Phase 1?
No ah?

This is what I thought:
400 vacancies
100 taken up at Phase 1, 300 left
150 goes to Phase 2A1
150 goes to Phase 2A2
If got any balance from 2A1 & 2A2, then the rest will go to 2B and 2C (half half) - with new system should be min 40 vacancies reserved for 2C?

My understanding is that 40 vacancies to be reserved for 2B & 2C (ie 20 for each phase). Registration process for the earlier phases remains the same. Should demand exceed supply at any one phase, balloting will take place. Vacancies not taken up at phases 1 - 2A2 will be added on to the 40 set aside, and divided equally between 2B & 2C.

So if all vacancies are taken up by say 2A1, 2A2 will have nothing, while 2B & 2C will each have 20 vacancies.
How about division of vacancies btw 2A1 and 2A2?

Hi, my family is currently stationed overseas in China, does anyone know of any school below (St Hilda, Pei Chun) that allows parents to serve as PV overseas. We do not mind flying back to Singapore occasionally to know the school and serve as PV at the same time. I am in IT field and my wife is in Pubic Relation/Journalist field

Thanks for taking time for your advice in advance, happy parenting !
No harm applying. Maybe your wife can do some PR as PV for them. Write articles about the school for their events and website???
Depends on what the schools wants/needs. 😄

Thanks! Keeping my fingers crossed. It's like fighting a war, gearing up, gathering whatever forces we can get. Wonder what happen to the Phase 2As balloting parents if they fail to get in with 40 places reserved for 2B and 2C. Do they qualify for 2B?

They don't unless they fulfil 2B criterion like grassroot leader, parent volunteer, church (for mission schools).

So the most KS way now is:
1. Join alumni (if still in time)
2. Join as PV, or go be grassroot leader, or if you happen to be able to get in via clan/church then get the endorsement letter

So if fail at 2A1, then try at 2A2.
If fail at 2A2, then try at 2B.
If fail at 2B, then try at 2C.

Hi,

I did not keep track of the applications for CHS for each phase this year. Can any kind soul please post it in this forum? Will the number of applicants be more than the number of vacancies for 2A1 very soon in next few years with the new change in the policy??
I think for the popular schools (CHS, NYPS, etc), there will most likely be balloting in Phase 2A1 & 2A2, especially for those out of 2km.
Best to join alumni now and move house if possible.

Does anyone know if I fail to ballot into my school of choice, can I defer my child to start P1 in 2015 instead of next year as she is a Dec child? Thanks.

Unless you got medical proof that your child has special needs and requires a 1 year deferment into mainstream school. This is done before but requires extensive review and report from doctor to be submitted to MOE. And most likely MOE will require you to bring the child for their educational psychologists to evaluate again.

Hi hi...

I need some advise from some wise mummy & daddy.

My boy have been accepted to my 2nd choice school. It was not easy too as we had to go thru ballot during phrase 2C. I am still very happy as it is also a good school, with affiliation, but 15-20mins with car, and 30-40mins with public bus.

Now I am still pondering if I shld waitlist him in my 1st Choice school which is a popular school and most impt is much nearer to where my kid is staying. We didn't even get a chance to register there as there were already limited sears balloting for P2C >1km.

I did called the school on when I can waitlist but the sch admin said no point doing it as they don't expect parents to pull out. If I insist, I shld only go approach them on end Sept as now they are too busy with all the registrations.

Part of me tell myself to put stay put on my 2nd choice now since has been accepted, despite the distance. I do not want to disrupt my boys routine if he has settle in when school starts, or shld I just try and wait list and see what happens? Anyway, I think chances for popular school is rare 😞

Dilemma ...
Seems like your 2nd choice school is not bad.
Tell yourself how good it is and forget the 1st choice school.

I feel that kids get our vibes very easily and will affect them in the sense that they feel like they are not in your 'dream school' and they are worth 'less'.

BTW, don’t be surprised…

People withdraw for a variety of reasons, despite spending a lot of time and effort to get their kiddo in to the school.

Some get good job offer overseas, some decide that the daily commute is too dreadful, etc etc.

Register at another school first. Then put on waiting list.
So far those successful cases I've heard, they call in every week to check if anyone withdraw. Then drop by whenever possible to check with the admin.
It's persistence. One of them told me happen that one day she went down just to ask and remind them that she is still interested to be on the waiting list, there was a parent processing the withdrawal at the admin office. Then she quickly reminded the admin that she's very very keen and do remember her when they are filling up the now vacant spot.
Needless to say, the admin asked if she can fill up the form on the spot, if yes, then the spot is hers!
Admin also lazy to dig out the list to call... LOL

she is lucky right.. as i just feel hard for children in popular school to withdraw?!? dunno.. very pessimistic after being balloted out..

That friend of mine went to the school on weekly basis!
And calls in at least twice a week on top of that.

Her boy already P3, she says worth her efforts. She is very happy with the school.
FYI: Her boy transferred over in T2 when he was P1.
Didn't manage to get a spot since beginning of the year since hardly anyone withdraws.
