Hi Sursum, ur son is in the best position to determine if 2RAs / 10 subjects are manageable. If your son finds the usual curriculum going too slowly or not in depth enough, doing 2 RAs may be a gd option for him. My son did math n chem RAs and 10 subjects and he enjoyed himself tremendously. He continued with both RAs in JC1 and because he did not give up his 3rd Lang elective, he could take it at A levels as his H2 humanities subject. No regrets at all.

Hi naggo-nitemare, wow, your boy is amazing!
My son said he is \"not very passionate\" abt the elective he is dropping. Plus he has SMP and is in sports CCA, so we didn't want him to be over-stretched.

      Hi Sursum and iRabbit,

For those taking 10 subjects, min GPA of 3.6 is required at end of Year 3. While RA is indeed at a much high level, the RA subject can be left out of overall GPA calculation as it is based on Core 5 + Best 3 subjects.

      Thanks.
      Hi Coast,
      Thanks for the info.
My boy will be taking 9 subjects and giving up his elective as we felt taking 10 subjects with 2 RAs is too much for him.

      Hi Sursum,

My friend’s boy took both Euler and Galileo in lower sec. From what she shared, it was manageable to cope with 2 RA subjects as her boy had genuine interest in them.

What she was more concerned with was the fact that RA subject tests were benchmarked at a much higher level compared to RP subjects. Since RA subjects grades are used for GPA calculation (for lower sec, only Euler does), it does affect the overall grade.

I believe the critical sec level milestones are at Y2 & Y4. Since most boys would like to take 9 subjects in upper sec and 4 H2 subjects in JC, they need to ensure that they hit GPA of 3.2 minimally.

So as long as one is hitting that threshold of 3.2 even with the RA subject(s), it should be okay. This was what she shared.
      Hi iRabbit,
      Thanks for sharing.
We are concerned abt the stress level and also the GPA. My boy is interested in the Science RA but hesitating abt Math RA. Anyway he has decided to take the plunge and take up both.

Asking experienced parents/students, is it hard to cope with 2 RAs?

Does anyone know if our girls need to report to RI (JC) in Nov or Dec? We're planning for our eoy holidays. Wouldn't want to miss any school orientation or briefing.

      Thanks!
Called RJC and was told that there is matriculation in Nov (date not confirmed). No need to go to campus as it will be done online. Info from office staff.

Edit to add: \"RI matriculation on last of sch, 26 Oct\", info fm Rgs. Not sure if this is the confirmed date.

hi! my little sister ( no, i'm not a mummy! ) is very keen on applying to rgs via english domain - the only thing is that she hasn't really joined any sort of english competition other than the SOTA Creative Writing Competition, where she was one of the top 50 finalists. She has never gotten an A* for her english before but has a very strong passion in creative writing / writing stories. She also has had some student leadership roles such as being a prefect, vice captain of her cca and monitress (she has been a monitress since P1) and some awards from her cca (mostly 3rd / 4th place though). Do you think she has a shot of getting into rgs?

Nobody knows for sure if she will have a shot but if she doesn't try, she will have zero chance via dsa. Just go for it. Don't live with regrets.

From the earlier posts, the children aren't mixed with GEP ones.. Is it still the same?

Also is the allocation based on the T score?Mine in 1F...

Hi solaris88, those boys with higher T-score are mixed with the geppers and placed from 1H to L. Not sure if it will be the same for the new batch.

      Class Allocation is out !!

      We can check online.

      DS in 1L.
That's the 12th letter of the alphabet.
I wonder how many classes for this cohort, since there are 407 of them.

DS in 1L too! Do we have a parents WA group too? I think the kids are starting wa group already. ◡̈

Do attend the tea session organised by the RPA on the day of the investiture. You will get to meet other parents of the same class and form a WhatsApp grp.
