I think we should stop the air-con saga thing at this point in a public forum before things get out of hand and the wrong parties are blamed. On hindsight, I should have posted the question directly to the school admin instead of asking in a public forum.

Did the WSC girls not get to go at all? Aren't their competitions mostly held regionally? Trip cost would still be rather affordable even without subsidies from the school?

last year it took place at dubai and none of the teams were funded to go to internationals. this year it's in Singapore though so I heard the teams were really happy about that

Without sounding elitist, I feel that more able students should be given the necessary support to excel. I might be 'hum-tum' for saying this, but why is so much money (3 Feb ST) being thrown into heritage projects about keeping the past alive when funds on education are cut?

The windows in container Blk J in dd’s classroom cannot be open. Someone also automatic close open doors because outside too noisy. They also have to switch off aircon due to the directive and switch on the fans. Gosh, isn’t it stuffy?

Any complaints from anyone? Or is everyone finding it ok?

Oh dear, MOE directive to install fans instead of using air conditions in classrooms. Wonder if they would install fans in the container classrooms (year 1) and told to switch off the air conditions? Would be really stuffy..

      There're fans in the classrooms.

I wonder how this directive, controlling the temperature of elite schools' classrooms, helps improve the education of other schools. :scratchhead:

I think MOE should show a good example by switching to fans in all their depts first.

I always feel uncomfortable at the usage of the word 'elite'. It's like putting oneself at a higher class than others. Sorry, doesn't mean to criticise but just hope that we won't band schools into such categories.

Ds checked out hostel yesterday and was pretty upset that he was given the 2nd warning since staying in the hostel this year. His finger print was not properly scan when he checked in thus was reported as absent. Although he try explaining it to the cluster mentor, it was not accepted 😞

Don't they have CCTV to verify? :scratchhead:

I think when you scan, your name should be shown on a screen for you to verify. Is there such a procedure?

Hi, can the girls come in PE t-shirt and pinafore for after school CCA on non-PE days? If so, what if it is also an assembly day? TIA

No. My daughter brings her t-shirt and changes before CCA. I would prefer it if the school allows it - less laundry!

Thanks, simkhoo. Compared to her primary days, life is more complicated now. Have to remember to bring what attire on what days and also more laundry/ironing.

If the girls haven't gone thru the badge initiation ceremony they can't wear their pinafores yet (as it's incomplete without the badge). So culottes and pe t-shirt sounds right.

Thanks jtoh and kira. She'll go in pe t-shirt and culottes on Monday then.
