Hi
My girl is planning to put STC as 1st choice. Any experience to share especially on their oral communication classes? Heard they are quite good. Is that true? How are the leadership programmes?

RE: 2012 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
Dear P6 students receiving results tomorrow, all the best to you and pray that you will be able to get results that will enable you to get to your dream school. :xedfingers:
To the parents, remember to celebrate with your child if there are improvements. Efforts count as well. PSLE is not the be-all and end-all. Learning is a continuous journey. I have friends whose children matured and did very well in Secondary school although PSLE results were not ideal. So all the best, everyone! Continue to motivate them in the next phase of their learning journey!

Yes, Congratulations to all P6 students for completing PSLE exams, it is one great milestone achieved!
To all dear parents at this forum, I would like to sincerely thank all of you giving useful advices, tips, suggestions on how to improve DC’s motivation, attitude, academic performance etc. I found the parents here so selfless and a mountain full of advices. Thank you everyone and it is a great support forum. I would not have survived without you given this is my first experience with DC’s PSLE. I hope this will provide a good experience on what to do for DC2. Thank you everyone! -

Dear Chenonceau:goodpost:
Ds don't log in to kip but I'll definitely show him this!Chenonceau:
To all the 12 Year Olds that log in here because they are such GOOD children who WANT to do well here is some advice from a psychologist...
(1) Stay calm. Just because everyone else is squealing their stress doesn't mean you have to. The more you think you are stressed, the more stressed you will be. That will interfere with your focus especially if you cannot channel your energy properly.
(2) Do your best. Whatever will be will be. There is a measure of LUCK in every exam. If you don't do well, it DOES NOT mean you are dumb. You should NEVER let any exam tell you you're stupid. Never lose faith in yourself because faith can move mountains.... if not now, later in life. Never lose faith in yourself.
(3) Know that there are many many Mommies and Daddies on this forum on the sidelines to cheer you on.
(4) Know that whatever stress your parents pile on you, they do it because they love you. Look past their scoldings and see their love for you. This will give you strength in the darkest hour.
(5) If the exam is difficult, it is difficult for EVERYONE. The silly PSLE is a bell curve. It doesn't matter how many questions you can't do as long as even the best in the subject ALSO doesn't know how to do.
With many kisses and hugs from Aunty Chen, go face your PSLE like a Warrior King/Queen. No fear.
Thank you for the very useful advice, will share with DD. God bless to all P6 children taking PSLE exams tomorrow. -

Hi JanetEssential:
Janet, wish your DS get well soon
Thanks Essential.
Appreciate your well wishes.
Wish your son a speedy recovery. Get him to drink more water.
All the best to all P6 students taking PSLE exams starting in 2 days time. Stay calm and you will be fine.
My DC all ready for the exams! Stationery packed... Can't wait for the exams to over soon... -
RE: 2012 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
Agreed, no more doing entire papers. Just identify weak areas and focus on those areas. Time is crucial and identifying weak areas and correcting them is the best action for my DD for this last league…

Hi tclhub,
Dear Chenoceautclhub:
Hmmmm... yeah... so I think it was a blessing that I am an idiot in Math. I couldn't help my son and so he HAD to figure out his Math sums. See... God loves me and my son.
We were as butterflies coming out the cocoon. The process was painful. We had little help because no tuition... but it gave Little Boy a better education WITHOUT me knowing it - http://mrmom.amaonline.com/stories/benefits.htm.
I like your attached article about butterflies coming out the cocoon. Conversely, I coach my daughter's Math and monitor her Math work very closely because I am a Mathematics graduate. Unfortunately, she is only getting As most of the time (hardly A*). I wonder if I should just let go and figure out herself without coming to me for help. Perhaps this helps?
You can give it a try. Maybe your DD depends too much on you. I am also an idiot when come to Maths. However, my son is an A* student for Maths. He never approach me for help & he knows I can't help him.[/quote]
Thanks for the advice, mummy so kiasu. I am gradually learning to let go, what will be will be. When she struggles, perhaps it will stimulate her thinking process better. -
