What is wrong by dropping them off at the front gate? Oh my … Can you imagine 100 cars dropping all their kids off at the MAIN GATE and jamming up the MAIN ROAD … Imagine the ire of other road users … Hope the above gives u the logical sense why the Sch didn’t allow parents to drop off at the front gate during peak hours. Otherwise, I’ve picked up/drop off my DD at the Main gate during off-peak without any issues … Just not during peak hours.

My DD is P4 at EPPS.

What kind of experience that you are referring to?

So far my DD is improving well, she enjoys studying despite of lots of homework and other activity. She stays in school up to 4 to 6 PM almost every day due to the activity she has.
I found the teachers are helpful, especially MT teacher (CL) that she email us the progress and activities in class almost every week.

Despite negative comments earlier, IMHO EPPS is one of good neighborhood school.
      Well said! 🙂 :goodpost:

:imdrowning: Naaah ... just too bz with work and family that i hardly have time to go into KiasuParents ... or any other forums for that matter! :salute:

Good to know you're generally happy ... but i guess we, being parents, are always looking to ensure that our children deserves the very best ... OK lah ... at least ensure that the teacher is fully committed!

Sorry to hear about that ... perhaps a separate moment and discussion with the teacher will help. Outlining both your's and the teacher's/school's expectations will be very helpful to ensure that there's no misunderstanding on their commitment.

Seeing she's new, public speaking - especially to us parents can be quite intimidating. That's also a possible reason why you might have felt that she might not have spoken confidently. It'll be good if you could ask more open questions to probe further so the teachers won't just give you a standard Textbook 101 answers when meeting you. Possibly you could ask like \"How have my son been doing....\" or \"Could you describe how he ....\" or \"Tell me what is his ....\". That way, you could gauge how much info is shared and whether they're trying to 'smoke' their way through.

Although my DD's form teacher is new as well (i believe they're the same batch of graduate students from NIE last year), my personal vibe on her form teacher has been generally good. I thought she did very well during the group MPS recently. Obviously no teachers may fit our perception of an 'ideal teacher' ... but if we could have an open and honest communication and feedback, this will help them and us as well in the long run. Perhaps, you may want to initiate more contact session with your DS' form teacher - either a weekly or fortnightly short email/phone conversation to update on your son's progress or even a simple gratitude message like \"Thank you\" will go a very long way.

As for feedbacks from upper pri mommies/daddies ... its good to listen and ask them what are the tangible reasons behind their perception of 'drop in standards'. Is it results? Is it CCA awards? I think its good to probe further rather than looking at 'perception' ... So let us keep an open mind and hearts and also judge/decide on the school's merit on what they've done so far ... and how your DS and his peers have fare and managed in the coming years. That would be a yardstick for how the school has been doing ....

One of the reasons I believe they're saying so is because the loss of a very dedicated and committed Principal. The new P has just assumed this role since 2011 and has a huge pair of shoes to fill with very good legacies to built on. Give her and her VPs a chance and i'm sure during her 5-year tenure, she would build this on. Next year will be her 3rd yr, can see what she has done thus far ... our kids will be in P3 then.

      Hope the above helps.

Yeah I thought you hv forgotten abt the forum!

Oh so ur girl is in 2C. Mine in 2H..
Quite satisfied with his performance but since there
were only class tests to gauge on, i didnt really feel its an accomplishment la. There's something abt the school that I dont really like..i dont knw, wht do u think??
Last year my son had a new teacher who just joined in 2011 as well and later resigned right after term 4 ends, which was why I felt she wasnt commited thruout the whole year. This year the class had 1 form and 2 co-form makes me wonder why there is a need to have so many teachers in the class? And I think they are also new as well!! During the MPS recently, I felt the form teacher wasnt able to speak to the parents confidently. During the briefing, the other 2 co-form had to take over her presentation! Whenever I asked all the teachers on how is my son's performances so far, they all said the same, \"oh he's fine,ah he's alright\" bla bla bla.. They didnt even suggest areas needed improvement, I knw my child is still learning and not perfect, Im sure he has flaws that needs improvement! They just do not want to commit!
I spoke to few other mommies(some are having kids in higher pr) whom i met daily when I fetch DS, they said standard of the school has dropped but
I didnt ask further wht they meant.

      You have anytg to share?

      Yes I was!

I didnt want to queue for all of that so I went to buy books n unifrm way before the orientation. I drove all the way to Teck Whye to purchase the uniform and for the books,I got them the day they started selling, tht was on the 15th.
I knew it'll definately be a hassle to do everythg on the orientation day.
So whc class is ur girl in?
Did u sign up for the PSG?
Didn't realised i had a reply here until ... sorry for the super delayed response!!! 🤷

Yeah ... signed up but an inactive one due to work commitments. 😓

Anyway, now P2 already ... r u happy with P1 so far for your child?

      Mine's in 2C. Your's?

      Hi!

My DS will also be in P1 next year!
Wah u really read abt the new P ya!
😄 Guess u were there last Fri for the orientation.

Wished that they had coordinated the sales of books and uniform on the same day .... quite difficult for working parents to take another day off .... 😛

      Hi all

My DD will be in P1 next yr and looking fwd to it.

Just saw the announcement of Principal transfers recently and this is a norm for all schools to have Principals rotated every 5 years.

Anyway, Mdm Cassie Fan was awarded a Commendation Medal at the National Day Awards. See here:
      http://nda.pmo.gov.sg/content/pmo/NationalDayAwards/search_nda.html?name=&year=2010&masterAwardId=All&currentPg=5

Her appts as VP before were in both Woodlands Ring and Si Ling Pri.

A little bit more about her ... she's a Physics grad from NUS in '91. She was also a former Senior ICT Instructor in ETD (Educational Technology Division), MOE.

A very warm welcome to the new P! :celebrate:

      Cheerios!
