Hi all, just a curious question from the top of my head. Does anyone know if secondary 1 boys are assigned to classes randomly or by their results? I believe whether the boy is taking HMT might play a part too.

My boy enjoys his first day but he's not telling much as usual..
Subject combination plays a part. For example, AEP students should be in the same class. The other students are sorted by results to some extent.

Check out the school's Facebook and Instagram pages for events. Sometimes I learn a lot more from there.

Almost all CCAs incorporate sports, whether it's a sports CCA or not. This applies even to Clubs and Societies, who have morning PT during their camps. On regular CCA days, push ups are often used as a form of discipline. However, all these are very light workouts that help the boys develop physically and mentally.

Agreed. DS and his batch mates were taught by their seniors how to do a proper push up when they first joined the school/CCA. Now he does them at home to train himself. šŸ˜‚

      Hi

May I know what time does the child need to report to school every morning? And when is school dismissal time? Thinking of sending Ds there but we are staying in Bt Merah. Quite far... Thanks.
The boys typically have to reach before 7.30am. Dismissal time depends on CCA, subject combination etc. I've heard of boys who stay in Woodlands, Serangoon, etc.

Separately, thank you all who have clarified CCA requirement on my earlier post & sharing insights. DD has picked VS as his 1st choice so we are really looking forward to reporting to VS on 22nd Dec šŸ™‚

:congrats: on your DS becoming a Victorian! VS boys have a lot of school pride, and really believe in their school motto \"nothing without labour\" and strive to be a \"gentleman, professional and sportsman\". Its interesting to see them develop over the 4 years.

Hi there, I am a Year 2 VS IP student. As far as I know, boys in my school aren't rowdy. Based on what you are saying, I do not think it is a bullying incident, to me I think they were just playing around. No matter what, our school takes incidents very seriously, except I can't remember the school boys involved in one for the past 2 years. Every Victorian is groomed to be a gentleman, professional and a sportsman. Bullying is rare in the school, and if there is a case of that, the school will be very strict with such issues, students may even be suspended or expelled. However, VS has groomed us so much that even if there are such cases, they will be settled even without a member of staff. The students will settle any problems among themselves. I have always admired this in my school.
You do not have to worry about the school just because of this
Will see your son in VS next year šŸ˜„
Great to have feedback from the current Victorians. :goodpost:

I understand Victoria school requires students to join a uniform group & a sports. Would this put a strain on the already limited time of students? How do the students cope? Are the uniform group & sport very demanding & result oriented?

The main reason my DS is not putting VS on his list is he has the impression that one needs to be very strong/good in the sport that he join to be able to survive well/gain acceptance. Any comments from anyone who has insights? He meets the COP to the school.

      Thks in advance!
Hi, no worries, only 1 CCA is required. Sports CCAs offer good training and do not expect you to be proficient immediately. If your DS doesn't like sports, he can choose from a range of other CCAs available. Hope this is helpful in his decision.

      Hi What The,

We are in the same dilemma as well. We stay near the school and do find the boys rowdy but I'm sure the other boys school are the same. ds has to decide btw doing A level or IB dip, to go to a nearby school or travel the distance. Secular or mission school etc.
      Hi lurline,

If you like, do drop me a PM on the rowdiness you've seen and I can feedback to the school. I think they'll be keen to know. Thanks! šŸ˜„
