Can any current JC2 parents advise, are JC2 kids free to travel after the A levels? Or does the school have programmes for the JC2s to attend after the exam and it’s best for kids to stay available during the December holiday period? When will the school ask the students to apply for SMTP programme? Is it in JC1 or after the Sec 4 EOY in NYG/HCI? For parents with kids in the HCI college SMTP programme, are there activities held during the June or Dec school holidays? Thanks in advance!

My gal didn't want to take up MO at P5 upon hearing from me that P5 will be a tougher year as she did not want any distraction for fear of doing badly at P5. She took up MO at P6 after I told her to pursuit her interests regardless of the academic results.


Is it bec your DD has the same fear? If so, your reassurance to her may help her overcome her physiological barrier of doing badly in her sch work if she takes up these extra activities.

What The:

DD is selected both for Maths Olympiad training and Chinese Creative Writing class but she is rejecting both! Sigh, I feel it will be good training grounds but she dun like, so nothing I can do. I can’t force her to attend. In primary school, she also reject the E2K class and Maths Olympiad training.

I have read in some forums that RGS girls were assigned various subject assignments on the same day and asked to hand in by the following day. As such, girls end up with late nights to finish their assignments. Is this true? Parents with girls currently in RGS, are your girls given sufficient time to complete homework? Are your girls generally happy studying in RGS? What do your girls generally grouse about RGS, if any? Thank u!

Few of their assignments need to be handed in next day. If there are, those are usually simple practice that do not require large amount of time or efforts. Important assignments / projects are usually given ample time - at least a week - to finish. On top of that, the school sets limit on how many hours of homework a student is given in a week. The school also audits the quantity of homework for each class and share this information with parents during PTM.

My elder daughter graduated from RGS last year and is now a Year 5 student at RI. My younger daughter is still in RGS. Searching my memory I couldn't find any serious complain they have against the school. At home the Y5 frequently tells the Y3 to treasure her time at RGS, as students are well taken care of and the school is very much organized around the mission of nurturing young girls.
